Was there ever a time you expressed personal views and it was quite obvious you were swimming upstream? You shared a belief that did not flow with the belief of the person you were talking to? I understand the feeling; like I’m drowning all alone. But the Bible tells us many times we need to remain strong and do everything in love – 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, Ephesians 6:10-17. And not to conform to the world – Romans 12:2. Continue reading

Ezekiel – Hard Truth Mixed With Future Blessing
I had concern for my holy name, which the people of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone. “Therefore say to the Israelites, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone. I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes. Ezekiel 36:21-23 Continue reading
A Response to the John Hagee Intercourse Interview
A friend brought to my attention a recent article, “John Hagee Calls For “Prosecuting Women Who Say God’s Name During Intercourse”. Written by Lea Vat Kens, June 15th 2015, NEWSLO Just Enough News. Because my blog focuses on lifting up God’s name, I’d like to comment on this controversial interview.
Pastor Hagee, founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, stated “One of the things that the Bible has consistently denounced is the taking of the Lord’s name in vain.” Christians, we know this statement is rooted on the third commandment, written in stone by the finger of God. It is a biblical truth; we are instructed to keep God’s name holy.

Our holy Father’s son, is God’s Word in the flesh. Jesus came to us to demonstrate God’s Word through His love for us. His was baptized around the age of thirty (Luke 3:23), and His ministry lasted approximately three years. In that short span of time, Jesus selected a devoted group of twelve disciples. They gave up all they had in order to follow and learn from Him. Continue reading
Salvation In The Name Of Jesus
Using the name Jesus, to express contempt, ill feelings or false glory, is immoral and God said no one will go unpunished. But the Good News is, because we believe in the meaning of the name Jesus, we can ask God for forgiveness. The name Jesus comes from Greek for Joshua, which means God is salvation.
salvation – noun : deliverance from the power and effects of sin Continue reading
Hallowed Be Your Name
When God’s son, Jesus Christ, gave the Sermon on the Mount on a hillside near Capernaum to crowds of people, He included a model of how to pray and honor God’s holy name, often called the Lord’s Prayer.
This then is how you should pray: ” ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ Matthew 6:9-13
Written in the book of Matthew, Jesus specifically discloses Continue reading
Abraham Loved the Eternal God
Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God. Genesis 21:33
This single sentence in Genesis, offers much for a Christian to delve into. It includes:
- Faithful Abraham, God’s chosen father of the Jewish nation.
- An action of thankfulness.
- Acknowledges God’s sovereignty.
- Offers a description of God.
In this verse, Abraham, while his son Isaac was little, made a treaty and swore and oath Continue reading
O my God – Addressing Our LORD In The Bible
In past posts I explain why using the phrases OMG and Oh my G**! directly break our Lord’s third commandment. In one quick grab with our voice, we try to pull Him down, ripping His name of all glory by using it as a trash word. We commonly defile His name by using it as a curse word in unwelcome or disagreeable situations. And, we wrongly toss His name into happy situations; fraudulently praising a delicious meal or loving on a new pair of shoes.
It seems no matter the circumstance, His name is habitually tossed incorrectly. Thankfully, the Bible gives Continue reading
