Give Thanks To The LORD

PSALM 100

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the LORD is God.

It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Give Thanks To Jesus

“Thanksgiving is not just a warm, cozy holiday. It’s not merely a time of recreation and relaxation and watching football all day. As we give thanks, we need to put our mind, soul and spirit into our thanks and into our praise.”

Give God Your Thanks

“God says to give thanks in everything. That doesn’t mean you need to give thanks FOR everything. You don’t need to give thanks FOR that bad day. Or FOR that bad relationship. Or being passed over at work. Financial hardship. Whatever it is – you are not to give thanks FOR the difficulties, but rather IN the difficulties. That is a very important distinction, and one I think we often miss. Giving thanks IN everything shows a heart of faith that God is bigger than the difficulties and that He can use them, if you approach Him with the right heart and spirit, for your good and His glory.”

Overflowing With Thankfulness

The more we live in thankfulness to God for all things, under all circumstances and in all situations, the more we are able to see His works.

Thanking shows we trust His judgment even though the situation is stressful. Thanking shows willingness to grow through undesirable situations.

Thankfulness opens eyes to what God is teaching allowing us to be grounded in Him. Grounding brings about faith so that any doubt of His promises will be removed.

In this season of Thanksgiving may we be truly thankful.

Give Thanks This Thanksgiving

In the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 men (plus uncounted women and children), Jesus, savior of the world, was thankful to God before the distribution and eating of the five small barley loaves and two small fish. Scripture says He simply “gave thanks.”

This Feeding of the 5,000, is the only miracle recorded in all four of the gospels (Matthew 14-Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6-Mark 6:31-44; Luke 9-Luke 9:12-17; John 6-John 6:1-14).

This story offers six interesting points:

Jesus Offers Thanks–BEFORE Blessing Appears!

Offering Thanks Works.

Gathered together in a grassy area on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, not far from the town of Bethsaida in Israel, Jesus fed 5,000 men. The wondrous deed was preformed spontaneously, accomplished on-the-spot after Jesus looked into the heavens and gave thanks. Though Jesus’ close group of Twelve were at His side, they had no idea of the miracle that was about to happen.

The large crowd of 5,000 (total doesn’t reflect women and children in attendance) was traveling on foot from nearby towns as they followed Jesus, eager to listen as He shared God’s message.

Jesus, whose name means Savior, considered the encompassing crowd as sheep without a shepherd. Because of this, the Savior had compassion on them while lovingly healing their sick and speaking about the kingdom of God.

Thank-You, LORD, For Another Season On Earth!

November–another great month to remember and acknowledge God for all that He is!

As the holiday fast approaches, now is an appropriate time to reflect on God, just as the pilgrims reflected on Him when they celebrated their first Thanksgiving. It’s a perfect time to be thankful for the promises God made to us, to be thankful for His protection, to be thankful for the gift of Jesus.

Let’s acknowledge we believe God is the good supplier of all our needs!

1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
