The Word vs the world

Word and world alphabetically part company at the fourth letter. We Christians, however,  understand there is literally a world of difference between these two words. The Word is God’s message. It purely instructs us how to live a holy life. The world, however, is not pure. It contains both good and evil. This evil is what tries to cunningly trick us away from God’s Word.

In past posts I explain why using the phrases OMG and Oh my G**! directly break our Lord’s third commandment. In one quick grab with our voice, we try to pull Him down, ripping His name of all glory by using it as a trash word. We commonly defile His name by using it as a curse word in unwelcome or disagreeable situations. And, we wrongly toss His name into happy situations; fraudulently praising a delicious meal or loving on a new pair of shoes.

My Christian study group is currently studying the Bible’s book of Matthew. Matthew’s gospel includes many quotes from the Bible’s Old Testament, along with an abundant amount of references to the Messiah. Matthew’s writing purpose was to clearly state that Jesus is the Savior of the world.

Finding The Right Bible Study

Bible Study Group

Two years ago, I was drawn to Bible study. As a child, my mom took me, my sister and my brother to Sunday School and church each week. Through years past I attended many adult Christian Education classes at church, but all on Sunday mornings. It wasn’t until two years ago that I decided to relinquish some of my personal during-the-week time, to learn God’s Word. Oh, how selfish I was to hold back all those years!
