Exciting News! New Book Is Here!

Lift Him Up don't Pull Him Down

Hello readers, I have some exciting news that I want to share with you. For the past two years I have been writing a book. This is the book that inspired this blog and I can’t wait to share it with you!

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Exodus 20:7

Have you ever misused God’s name; carelessly tossed His name into a conversation as an expletive? “Oh my G**! We have to get together for lunch.” Or used our God as a common exclamation in happy surprise or angry disgust?  “J****! How did he fumble that ball again?” This is sinful verbal trash, and this trash can have a lasting, negative effect on our souls.

Some may think misusing God’s name is a small infraction, just words, not hurting anyone. Don’t let others sway you from doing what you understand and believe to be right. Our eternity is not decided by “others.” It is decided by God. And God clearly tells us not to take His name in vain. He gave us free will, but lovingly desires our obedience to Him. With a straightforward message, He told us disobedience to this commandment will not go unpunished.

Yet, we trash them daily when we use The Name incorrectly in any unloving or unholy manner. This improper way of speech includes expressing pleasure when using The Name in a common way. We are turning The Name into something so dirty, smelly or smashed, they are unrecognizable as the true deity they reveal.

God is kept first in this book, anchored to the fact that His holy name should never be dishonored in any verbal or written form. Keeping that truth in mind, information is confirmed biblically.

Society is constantly changing. And these changes include shifting many values that, for some reason, are no longer deemed necessary. But it is necessary to stand firm and treat God as God. Believers, it is our responsibility to sift through what gradually becomes popular, and make sure these changes do not take away from God’s law.

If we remove God’s law, we are in essence worshipping our man made laws over His. This means we are turning the great I AM, into a disregarded I was. The act of fraudulently trying to make ourselves more powerful than our Creator, only creates more trash.

If not you then who? Who will stand up for God’s commands? Who will stand up for God to preserve the holiness of His name and break the chain of passing on OMGs to BFFs as they LOL? Simply clicking the delete button on specific texts will shine light on your soul.

Nothing can ever be hidden from the site of God. In some of our questionable circumstances, this reality can terrify us. But in some terrifying circumstances, this reality can comfort us. What is important to remember is God is always with us. And just like we nurture close relationships with friends, the more we continue to commune with God the more intimate our relationship with Him will grow.

To stay rooted in God, we need to stop the lazy habit of trying to weaken the power of God’s name, by loosing Him in our everydayness. This weakening includes the overloaded phrase Oh my G**!  Now is the time to learn how to make the important change in your life, and stop taking the Lord’s name in vain.

Here is the trailer for the book.

  2. What a wonderful reminder. In general, the misusing of God’s name in Television in and Movies has been growing at an alarming rate. I agree @OMG, Best wishes on sharing grace and truth through this timely book release. May God use it mightily in the life of readers. 😉
