Have you ever thought about how big our God really is? When we acknowledge the differences between our big God and those little gods, we begin to understand His true awesomeness.

The LORD Looks At The Heart

The LORD looks at the heart.

Israel longed for a king, as other nations had their kings. So God found favor in Saul, son of Kish. Though Saul reigned forty-two years, it did not take him long to disobey God by failing to completely destroy the Amalekites and all their possessions. Thus,  Saul fell out of God’s favor.

This action lead God to search for a new king, one with a heart God knew to be true. Continue reading

Faith That God Was Made Flesh

     Do you have trouble believing God came to earth to dwell among us, dressed in the flesh of mankind? Some people may wish they have eternal life, hoping earth is not all there is for us. The apostle John states we can know we have it, based on God’s Word.

Last week, I used  Revelation 3:20 to explain that Jesus wants to know YOU:

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

From the very beginning, John was drawn to Jesus. John is represented in the Gospels as being closer to Jesus than any other disciple. He refers to himself as “the disciple Jesus loved.”

John is the son of Zebedee, both are fisherman. Along the shore of the Sea of Galilee they prepared nets in their boat with John’s brother James. The Bible tells us Joseph was the eleventh son born to Jacob,  his mother was called Rachel. Joseph’s older brothers despised him because he was the favored son of Jacob.

Genesis 37:3 Now Israel [Jacob] loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him.

For this reason, the brothers sold Joseph to a caravan of traders traveling to Egypt, then lied to their parents and told them Joseph was devoured by a wild animal. Continue reading
