Worshipping God is an outward action, public or private, affirming He is more powerful than us.
Acknowledging that truth through song, dance, prayer, meditation, or reciting The Word, is a believer’s desire. Christian hearts long to worship our LORD because we are drawn to Him. We desire to be in His presence, feel His love, communicate with Him. As we worship the LORD we are spontaneously in His presence no matter our true location.
God doesn’t care where we worship – His care is that we worship.
Read six reasons God is worthy of worship:
1. God Creates
Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
God created us from nothing more than dirt.
I AM created earth and its original creatures of flesh, fur, feathers, and fins. Once created, His creatures then are born from a female with fertilization from a male. Works wonderfully made with purpose not by chance. His perfect plan created because He exists, and His existence spoke creation into being.
2. God Is Glory
Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
For God is glory and He deserves our glory. The definition of glory includes honor and respect.
God, the magnificent Creator of all things seen and unseen, is everlasting holy glory. God’s glory is not a seeable or touchable object like shiny gold. His glory is more precious than any weight of gold. God’s glory is who He is; His glory is His character. And His character is unmatched – no man can replicate God’s character – not even esteemed kings or preachers.
3. God Is The Perfect Plan
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
King Solomon, the last king of Israel, knew God as just and right, a perfect power, so Solomon humbly asked God for a blessing of wisdom. This heartfelt request prompted God to shower Solomon with more than wisdom; God also showered Solomon with great wealth and honor.
God had a perfect plan for Solomon just as He has a perfect plan for everyone. With the arrival of Jesus, believing in Him becomes The Perfect Plan.
Jesus is calling you here and now. The thought of you belonging to His beloved family has always been part of His perfect plan. He’s just patiently waiting for you to call on Him just as like Solomon did. Your invitation to ask Jesus into your heart is part of Jesus’ perfect plan on earth – a plan for salvation. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
4. God Will Judge
Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Reverend Billy Graham explains Jesus Christ came and was crucified on the Cross for our sin so that believers will not have to fear judgement, “…when we turn to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith, God forgives our sin and gives us the gift of eternal life.” But those who do not know Christ will be judged.
5. God Is Loves
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
God’s love is plural.
The loves of God cover all nations, all whose people come to the LORD. God not only loves us before the beginning; His deep loves continue to be poured on us through the blood of Jesus on the cross. Though we did sin, presently sin, and continue to sin, God gave His son to redeem our sin. God did this despite there being nothing we can ever do to repay Him. God’s loves do not depend on reciprocations.
Out of His loves flow attributes. Attributes of patience, kindness, goodness, mercies and, by His grace we are saved. Believers have eternal life in the presence of God’s unending loves.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
6. Respect Pleases God
Ephesians 6:2-3 “Honor your father and mother”, is a commandment with a promise. . .”so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
Worship is a form of respect and respect pleases God.
God’s fifth commandment tells us if we respect our earthly parents it will please Him so much that He will bless us with enjoyable long life. Since God is our heavenly Father, our actions of respect towards Him also please Him.
1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.
The Bible also tells us to not only respect God and our parents, we are to respect all others as well. The decision to respect is our own.
The choice to honor God is personal. He places the option before us. God does not force His way upon us. Though God provides for a clear way to eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus, respect for God and Jesus is a personal decision.
Respect should be for all peoples, believers and non-believers, and those in authority. This includes government officials, the military, and police officers.
