The life of Jesus is a miraculous one. He spent thirty-three years amongst us living life as fully God and fully human. Before His birth, over three hundred messianic prophecies were written in the Old Testament. Not surprising, our Lord Jesus fulfilled them all.
Many have trouble believing all prophesies written about the Messiah could possibly be fulfilled, however, testimony to each prophesy is found in the New Testament.
Prophesies that range from a virgin in Bethlehem giving birth, to Jesus being pierced on the cross, then resurrecting.
All three hundred or more prophesies of Jesus have come true, and the math that helps us understand this miracle points only to Jesus as the Messiah!
Prophecy:
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Fulfillment:
Luke 1:35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
Prophecy:
Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
Fulfillment:
Matthew 2:4-6 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “ ’But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’
Prophecy:
Psalm 22:16 Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.
Fulfillment:
John 19:36-37 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,” and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.
Prophecy:
Psalm 118:17-18 I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
Fulfillment:
Luke 24:5-7 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”
Those just a sampling of the Old Testament prophesies.
Pasadena College Chairman of Mathematics and Astronomy, Peter Stoner, along with six hundred students from the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, did a study on the probability of someone fulfilling these prophecies. They considered the idea of Jesus fulfilling not all, but merely eight of those three hundred prophecies.
After using mathematical theories the conclusion to their research was amazing. The idea that Jesus would fulfill only eight of those three hundred prophecies was calculated to be 1 in 1017.

“Let us try to visualize this chance. If you mark one of ten tickets, and place all of the tickets in a hat, and thoroughly stir them, and then ask a blindfolded man to draw one, his chance of getting the right ticket is one in ten. Suppose that we take 1017 silver dollars [100,000,000,000,000,000] and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state.
“Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote using their own wisdom.”
