America–Let’s Lift Him Up!

It’s not hard to notice America is living though some tough times right now. The negative effects of Covid continue to cause wide spread havoc in our country. And half of America is unhappy with Washington as politicians fight amongst themselves for their own glory and not for the livelihood of its citizens. With all this chaos causing a domino effect of problems for America it’s understandable folks are feeling lost.

But what, dear Christians, does God instruct His children to do in all circumstances despite living through hardship? The Bible tells us we are to praise Him, Habakkuk 3:17-19. We are to praise His holy name. No matter our situation, good or bad, we are to praise our great Creator. He is the the only One who knows the “why” of all events. Brothers and sisters in Christ, I know it’s hard, but we are to obey His instruction, to place our faith and trust in His perfect plan and timing. He will get us through this season.

Over the years America has separated from God’s timing. We’ve allowed ourselves to indulge in more “me time” and less “God time.” We’ve drifted from the truth, removing God from our government, schools, businesses and even our families. Sadly we opt to fix, or should I state manipulate, situations by our own means. We take on our problems as do-it-yourself projects. But think about it…how’s that technique really working for us?

God loves America and desires a personal relationship not only with its citizens but with our government as well. In order to achieve that relationship our nation must return to ideals our Founding Fathers ascribed to. It was on April 30, 1789 from the second floor balcony of Federal Hall in New York City, General George Washington gave his first inaugural address. In it he said this:

The propitious smiles of heaven, can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which heaven itself has ordained.

Just one of many references Washington made to God, America’s newly elected president was articulating the necessity of praise for God as the foundation for a successful nation.

God wants America to:

  • Praise Him
  • Love Him
  • Believe in Him and
  • Proclaim His holy name.

At all times whether they be good or bad, believers–we are to Praise Him!

President Washington affirms God’s word assures us when we praise God He hears and will provide, Psalm 34:17-18. Sometimes, it may not be the provision we expect, but that’s okay. God’s purpose extends beyond earthly understanding, Isaiah 55:8-9. He’s God! His perfect plan for His people expands the horizon beyond what is needed today, next month and even next year. Our situations, problems, people and timing are intertwined for His glory, not for ours. It’s up to us to simply trust in His will and in His time, 2 Peter 3:8-9.

God has only the best in-store for those who worship Him.

So as “One Nation Under God,” let us lift him up! Just as President Washington and our Founding Fathers praised God, let American believers praise God’s forever goodness, His unending faithfulness, His enduring compassion and His sacrificial love found only through His son, Jesus Christ.

And as we praise Him individually, remember to praise Him for all His has done for our nation. That He continues to bless us as we place our trust in His will.

May God find favor on America. May God forgive America's sins. May America regain health, find truth, and receive the prosperity a nation expects when we follow His word and praise our forever God. Amen

America, let’s lift Him up!

Psalm 150:1-6

Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
