America, Be Wise In Choosing Leaders

A General Election is scheduled in America for Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Citizens will vote on all 435 seats in The House Of Representatives and on 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate. Governors will be elected in 36 of our states and in 3 American territories.

Our Forefathers and Founders fought hard, sometimes to their death, to create a land “with liberty and justice for all.” While doing so they chose leaders, “men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain”, as instructed by the Bible. America grew strong with leadership from these men.

Our Forefathers and Founders, overwhelmingly Christian, were wise in choosing Christian leaders lead by Biblical morals.

The Pilgrims, who arrived on America’s shore for the first time in 1620, were students of Biblical principal and would have followed 1 Timothy 2:1-2. These devout men and women would pray for godly leadership for “all those in authority”.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

They also followed the Biblical instructions God gave to Moses when Moses was concerned about being the only leader over the 1.5-3.5 million Hebrews he lead out of Egypt. God told Moses to select respectable men to help him lead the Hebrews.

Deuteronomy 1:13 Choose some wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.”

President John Adams also believed it important to have a “Christian spirit” when it came to selecting someone for office. To examine their truth and evidence over their words in order to avoid deception…”advert to facts“.

Let us examine, then, with a sober, a manly . . . and a Christian spirit; let us neglect all party [loyalty] and advert to facts; let us believe no man to be infallible or impeccable in government any more than in religion; take no man’s word against evidence, nor implicitly adopt the sentiments of others who may be deceived themselves, or may be interested in deceiving us.

The Bible tells us to also look at the hearts of men. In doing so we can determine for ourselves if we believe them to be righteous; for righteous leaders make decisions to prosper people and keep them safe. Wicked leaders, those with the heart of a fool, seek agendas that prosper themselves not the citizens of a nation.

Ecclesiastes 10:2 The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

I’m not saying every election is a choice between good or evil. Sometimes there may be a fine line separating. Such was the case when the apostles were choosing between two men to replace Judas in their group of twelve. The eleven prayed for God to reveal to them which of the two candidate’s hearts leaned more towards Him.

Acts 1:24-26 Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

This is what is required of us in this election. Through prayer and petitions to God, through finding truth on what the candidates stand for we will make more determined choices between the running candidates before we engage our right to vote.

Does he/she reflect God’s word? Do we find the candidate to be righteous in character? Does the candidate respect parental rights? These are just some of the issues important to retaining God in our country. Do they respect differences between men and women? God holds those differences sacred. Which candidate respects life? God thought of us and loved us even before creation: “before the foundation of the world He chose us to become, in Christ, His holy and blameless children living within His constant care“.

Which candidate stands for the protection of children from sexual mutilation and sexual misinformation beyond their years? The Bible says, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Christian voters, we are to be far-reaching and protect all children from harm not just our own.

America needs spiritual awakening in government. Christians can not allow elected officials to continue stripping Judeo-Christian values and moral truths from our Godly foundation.

Christianity in America stands at 64%.

Christians are the majority in America. By being wise before going to the polls, this means learning how candidates stand on basic issues such as liberty, allowing boys in girls bathrooms, gun control, illegal immigration, the definition of a woman, abortion up until birth, Critical Race Theory taught in schools, government control of schools, government authority over children versus parental authority, limited government…the list goes on.

America has slowly stepped left of basic morals followed by our Founders.

“Christians, we need that spiritual awakening that only Jesus can give. You know what I’m talking about. America needs to revive that passion for God and devotion to His Word that was so important to our Founding Fathers. We are built on His fundamental truths.”

America Needs Revival

Thankfully, God sits on the Throne of justice and has told us if we are humble and repent we will be forgiven for our sins against Him. His word is true. Forgiveness then offers blessings upon us not more calamity upon us.

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

As Election 2022 comes to pass may we remember to praise His holy name, praise God for the nation He has given us to grow and abound in His presence. Praise Him for past and present leaders and for our 2023 leaders forthcoming for “he deposes kings and raises up others” as He chooses. Praise Him in advance for giving us wisdom to select our leaders just as He did Moses and the Eleven.

Daniel 2:20-21 “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

  1. I wrote out a contract between our councilors, mayor and school board members informing them that if they wanted my vote they would abide by Christian morals. Not one of them signed so I did not vote.

    • Our Forefathers and Founders built America on Christian morals. America’s first universities, our hospitals, missionary work more than any other country, charity to nations…all built on Christian morals. I’m glad you, among many Christians, want those morals back in government. America is blessed when we follow Him.
