America, God Is Our Hope

“If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be one nation gone under.”

President Ronald Reagan, Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast (1984)

President Reagan spoke truth. To believe a flourishing economy, protection, family stability, or high marks in education are citizen-produced within America’s border is prideful fallacy.

As a nation dedicated and built on God’s word, (Remember God’s History In America), to ever think ourselves greater than the Creator is to bring self harm upon us. Any wounds we suffer would be self-inflicting.

God is America’s strength. His wisdom, character, and abilities far exceed human comprehension. Even the highest degreed intellectual could not find words to accurately encompass all God is/does.

Isaiah 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Hope for America lies in God alone. Lest we forget, "...we will be one nation gone under."

ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”

Blessings to you as you receive redemption through Jesus.

  1. I just listen to Reagan’s full speech, it was a bunch of garbage. Though his above quote is true in of itself, his speech was spin doctoring to tickle the ears of “Christians”. We need to throw out religion and replace it with a relationship with Jesus Christ. The only other truth he mentioned was humbly admitting one is a sinner, which politicians do not do. These days they do admit their sins, but proudly, especially if they are pointing the finger at another politician.

    • Thank you for reading this post, and for your thoughts. I also listened to President Reagan’s speech. We seem to have two different opinions, which is not a problem.
I believe President Reagan loved America. He not only mentioned this love of country in this speech, he also seemed to speak from the heart. Reagan’s statement, “I believe that faith and religion play a critical roll in the political life of our nation and always has.” speaks of our true history. God was with us from the beginning-read about the Mayflower Compact https://debrapedrow.com/2021/04/28/america-needs-revival/.
At length, President Reagan cited prominent American founders devotion to God. He spoke of their belief in, “A divine order which transcends the human order.”
I don’t agree the Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast speech made by President Reagan in 1984 was garbage, but I do agree with you that America is in need of a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

      • Which is not going to happen if we keep watering things down with ecumenical speeches both in the political and church realms. This was forty years ago, Look where we are at with “tolerant speeches” and what sins we Christians are being demanded to accept as ok.

        • I agree. I’m looking forward to what God has planned with all these college campus revivals going on. These young people’s purpose may be just what America needs to revive families, businesses, Washington, to revive even churches for Christ!
