Stand Firm In Faith

Stand firm in faith

Faith brings us closer to God.

The words faith, faithful, faithfully and faithfulness occur more than four hundred times in the Bible. I believe God sent a clear message to us that faith is very important in our Christian walk with Him.

The meanings of faith:

  • Faith – complete trust or confidence in someone or something
  • Faithful – loyal, constant and steadfast
  • Faithfully – in a loyal manner
  • Faithfulness – the quality of being faithful; fidelity

With each step of complete confidence in a constant, loyal manner toward our Maker, we offer fidelity to Him alone.  And God welcomes those who have faith in Him:

Isaiah 26:2Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith.

God’s true character is faithful. He can never turn His back on those who love Him and follow His way:

Deuteronomy 7:9Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

God shows abundant mercy to those who live life faithfully to Him, as Noah who was saved from the great flood lived:

Genesis 6:9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.

God Himself spoke to Moses, telling Moses He is overflowing in faithfulness:

Exodus 34:6   And he [God] passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,

Thankfully, we are created in God’s image, as stated in Genesis 1:27.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God is not telling us we physically have His form, because God is not of human form John 4:24.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Rather, it means we have the character of God, His righteous attributes within us if we choose to express them. We have the ability to be faithful, but of course, because of our gifted free will this ability is only carried out by our choice.

When you stand firm in faith, you will be moved. You will get where you need to be. Faith offers hope.  Faith places us in the hands of God. Faith also allows us a better understanding of any situation’s outcome. This understanding results from our faith that God has a plan, and His plan is always good.

Variations of the word faith are used thirty two times in this post. Please know I want you to understand how living a life of faith is important to all Christians.

Praise God today, and ask Him to lead you in standing firm in faith. Each time you exercise the strength of faith, you are lifting Him up!
