Election Day is November 8.
Are we ready to win back America? I know we have been in election battle mode for over a year now. Evil has viciously been pitting candidate against candidate, family against family, and friend against friend.
These past months have been tiresome as Christians maneuver to avoid the slings and arrows of satan’s struggle for power. But Christians, we are not called to maneuver, or to navigate or to retreat when it comes to confronting evil. We are called to do just the opposite.
We are called to stand firm in the Lord.
Ephesians 6:10-11 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
The strategies of this election are not about man versus man, but about Good versus evil.
Righteousness is in peril.
In order to maintain rank, Christians must always rely on six pieces of God’s armor: Ephesians 6:13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
- Ephesians 6:14a Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth…
- Ephesians 6:14b and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
- Ephesians 6:15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
- Ephesians 6:16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
- Ephesians 6:17a Put on salvation as your helmet…
- Ephesians 6:17b and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
How to use God’s armor as defense from our enemies:
Believe in biblical Truth.
Fill our hearts with God’s Righteousness.
Spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Shield ourselves through faith.
Protect our thoughts with knowledge of salvation through Jesus.
The only offensive weapon we need – God’s Word.
At this time in history many critical high level decisions are about to be made.
These national decisions will deeply influence Christian life. The following is a list of five extremely important issues to Christians, along with where each Presidential Candidate and their party stands:
- Appointing up to four Supreme Court Justices. (The average length of term is 16 years, with the longest, Chief Justice John Marshall, serving 34 years.)
Trump: The late Antonin Scalia’s career was ” defined by his reverence for the Constitution…”
Clinton: “I would not appoint someone who didn’t think Roe v. Wade is settled law.”
- Religious Liberty
Trump: “Religious freedom [is] the right of people of faith to freely practice their faith. [It is] so important.”
Clinton: “Deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
- Abortion
Trump: “I hate the concept of abortion. And since [being pro-choice] I’ve very much evolved. And I am very, very proud to say that I am pro-life.”
Clinton: “I support Roe v. Wade because I think it is an important … statement about the importance of a women making this most difficult decision.”
- National Defense
Republican Platform: To restore America’s military power and increase troop numbers.
Democratic Platform: It is necessary to decrease military spending.
- Immigration
Republican Platform: Oppose amnesty for any illegals. Will build a border wall with Mexico. Refuse entrance to refugees who can not be vetted, especially those from known terrorist homelands.
Democratic Platform: Denounces ban on immigrants, even those from terrorist countries.
Those issues are just a sampling of party differences we need to shoulder through.
I have suited up in God’s armor as I prayed, done my research, and navigated through facts and fiction of this election. November 8 I am voting Donald Trump as our next President.
I challenge you to also put on God’s armor, sort through both party platforms, and vote November 8.
