Being Happy In God’s Love!
1.God created a beautiful home for us.
Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
It’s wonderful to live on a planet created with such detail. Scientists believe the number of stars in the sky equals the grains of sand on the earth’s beaches. Yet our galaxy spins and moves with precise accuracy. The moon, stars and sun perfectly chart our days and seasons.
We have land and water to sustain necessary life sources. Land that births vegetation needed to feed animals that roam here; water to help nourish plants and also sustain its own families of aquatic life.
All things necessary to sustain life are provided by God. But He also gave us bountiful beauty: mountains and prairies, waterfalls and puddles, maple trees and daisies, elephants and bumble bees.
God’s loving beauty is all around us.
2.God has a plan for us.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
The world and all that is in it was made perfectly by God’s master plan. That plan includes creation of human life. Before we are even born, God plans our lives. He knows the great things we are capable of doing because we are made in His image.
But it’s up to us to discover our gifts and talents, then use them for His glory.
When we ask God to constantly stand beside us through life’s journey, He is here. We know this because the Bible tells us God is faithful. By constantly having God to lean into, we are able to surrender ourselves to His plan of hope.
God’s plan is always better than our own haphazard-hope-it-works idea.
3.God gave us an example of love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God’s plan for us not only includes leaning into God for all things, but also following the teachings of His son, Jesus. Jesus lived a sinless life for 33 years here on earth. He is the living representative of the action of love for mankind: an example we should all follow.
Jesus healed sick people, fed hungry people, cast out demons from people, and raised three people from the dead.
It’s true we can not raise the dead as Jesus did. However, we can follow His example of helping those less fortunate than us by doing good deeds:
- Assist someone recovering from surgery.
- Sponsor a hungry child.
- Donate to drug-related programs.
Jesus’ love continues to shine through our good deeds.
4.God sacrificed Jesus for us.
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Often, non-believers think of Jesus only as a judge. It is true in the end …he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. Acts 10:42
But before we all die and judgement falls upon us, mankind has the opportunity to know the true relationship between God and Jesus Christ – Jesus IS the Son of God.
God is righteous and holy, unable to be in the presence of sin. Humans however, all have a sinful nature since God blessed us with our own free will. So reparation for our offenses had to be made in order for us to enjoy eternity in His presence.
There was no sacrifice precious enough except for God in the flesh (Jesus the Son) to carry the burden of all mankind’s past, present and future sin.
God in the flesh had to die to atone for mankind’s sin.
5.God offers eternal life to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
John 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
God loves us so very much that He sent His only Son to die a sacrificial death on the Cross for you, me, and all of mankind. If you have trouble believing in Jesus, I suggest you read the book of John.
John the apostle, son of Zebedee, is the author of John. John was a devoted follower of Jesus for three years. He intimately knew Jesus through close fellowship, hearing Jesus speak, and watching Jesus’ actions of love.
The book of John is all about believing who Jesus is. In it John shares much about the life of Jesus, including:
- Seven of Jesus’ miracles.
- Jesus’ seven Messianic claims.
- Healings by Jesus
- Teachings of Jesus
- Hatred toward Jesus
- Followers of Jesus
- What Jesus said to the disciples
- Our introduction to communion
- Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit
- Examples of Jesus’ prayer
- Jesus’ crucifixion
- Jesus’ resurrection
God’s plan of love for our eternal life requires us to do one thing: Believe in Jesus Christ.
