More and more followed JESUS

More and more followed Jesus

I participated in the study of THE STORY – THE BIBLE AS ONE CONTINUING STORY OF GOD AND HIS PEOPLE. Foreword by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee.

This post reflects chapter twenty-eight in THE STORY. It reveals how the disciples continued to follow Jesus after He ascended to heaven.  On a side note, of the remaining original eleven disciples, ten of them died horrific deaths for their believing in the power of name of Jesus. You are loved by a Big God!

How wonderful to be know and loved by a big God!How wonderful to be known and loved by a big God!

Have you ever thought about how big our God really is? When we acknowledge the differences between our big God and those little gods, we begin to understand His true awesomeness.

Our big God sent His Son to offer us salvation from sin. We do not gain salvation by living a good life, though many folks believe that idea . No, we are saved only through faith in Jesus Christ and the blood that He shed for us on The Cross. Continue reading

The LORD Looks At The Heart

The LORD looks at the heart.

Israel longed for a king, as other nations had their kings. So God found favor in Saul, son of Kish. Though Saul reigned forty-two years, it did not take him long to disobey God by failing to completely destroy the Amalekites and all their possessions. Thus,  Saul fell out of God’s favor.

This action lead God to search for a new king, one with a heart God knew to be true. Continue reading

God came in the flesh. Believe!

Faith That God Was Made Flesh

Do you have trouble believing God came to earth to dwell among us, dressed in the flesh of mankind? Some people may wish they have eternal life, hoping earth is not all there is for us. The apostle John states we can know we have it, based on God’s Word.

God himself tells us in the book of 1 John, that He came to us in the body of Jesus Christ. And His coming was a gift, so that whosoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life with Him in heaven. Read the Good News, shared by John: Continue reading

Jesus wants to know YOU!

Jesus wants to know you!

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Revelation 3:20

Do your remember that little song from Sunday School class? As a child, I enjoyed singing it because the tune is cute and we would sing the phrase over and over. As an adult, I like the song because it makes a clear statement.

5 reasons to stop using OMG

Over the past decades, society has willingly and enthusiastically decided exclaiming Oh My G**! is: pertinent, necessary and acceptable in everyday conversations. However, because of the definition of God, and the way I understand our LORD’s third commandment, I must disagree.

Godnoun: the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being.

Read five important reasons why expressing Oh My G**! is absolutely wrong. Continue reading

Learn More About Heaven

Learn more about heaven

In order to better follow Jewish culture and show respect for God’s name, Matthew, the author of the book Matthew, chose to use heaven instead of God in his message. He understood Jewish reverence for the name God, for this reason Jews avoided mentioning His sacred name.

The Apostle Matthew was himself Jewish, and a former tax collector by trade. Tax collectors were despised for being cheats. Sitting in their tax booths while working for Rome, they extorted monies from the locals. Any money they collected over and above what Roman government required, they kept for themselves.
