Break The Chain – OMG and Oh My G**!

‘sBreak The Chain

This post marks the 100th message for the Lift Him Up blog. To celebrate this milestone, a new tab has been introduced on the menu bar: Break The Chain.

Since August of 2014, Lift Him Up has praised, revered, glorified and lifted up our Creator’s title – God. To do any less in our everyday-God-given-lives, is blaspheme. So consider today’s message as extra special to our Father, because I invite you to Break The Chain of misusing His name! Break The Chain was created as a format for you to post your personal commitment to refraining from this social misuse. Or a place to talk about any misuse of God’s name you have seen or heard, and how you feel about it.  Continue reading

5 Reasons why using – Oh My G**! – is Wrong

5 reasons why using OMG**! is wrong

Over the past decades, society has willingly, and I shall also say enthusiastically, decided that exclaiming Oh My G**! is: pertinent, necessary and acceptable in everyday conversations.

However, because of the definition of God, and the way I understand our LORD’s third commandment, I must disagree. Let me share five important reasons why expressing Oh My G**! is absolutely wrong. Continue reading

The second part of our LORD’s Third Commandment

The send part of our LORD's third commandment

Taking God’s name in vain extends past the OMG‘s and the Oh My G**s that I discuss in my book, Lift Him Up don’t Pull Him Down. The book is written mainly to address those two misused exasperations; both habitually spoken as trash words in society today. Examination into why it is inappropriate to speak God’s holy name in that context is explained throughout the book.  And I reveal what we are truly expressing with this misuse, along with giving examples of how trashing God’s name can be corrected. Ezekiel – Hard Truth Mixed With Future Blessing

Ezekiel Hard Truth

I had concern for my holy name, which the people of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone. “Therefore say to the Israelites, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned  among the nations where you have gone. I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes. Ezekiel 36:21-23 Continue reading

A Response to the John Hagee Intercourse Interview

John Hagee Intercourse Interview

A friend brought to my attention a recent article, “John Hagee Calls For “Prosecuting Women Who Say God’s Name During Intercourse”. Written by , June 15th 2015, NEWSLO Just Enough News. Because my blog focuses on lifting up God’s name,  I’d like to comment on this controversial interview.

Pastor Hagee, founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, stated “One of the things that the Bible has consistently denounced is the taking of the Lord’s name in vain.” Christians, we know this statement is rooted on the third commandment, written in stone by the finger of God. It is a biblical truth; we are instructed to keep God’s name holy.

Hallowed Be Your Name

Hallowed Be Your NameWhen God’s son, Jesus Christ, gave the Sermon on the Mount on a hillside near Capernaum to crowds of people, He included a model of how to pray and honor God’s holy name, often called the Lord’s Prayer.

This then is how you should pray: ” ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ Matthew 6:9-13

Written in the book of Matthew, Jesus specifically discloses Continue reading
