Father–Son–Holy Spirit

The union of the Father and Son and Holy Ghost is known as the Godhead. They are also known as the trinity. Blessed, holy, and sacred, they are “one God in three Divine persons”.

Understanding how God came in human form as Jesus, yet His essence also includes Holy Spirit, is an idea many–including myself–have a hard time comprehending.

This week’s video gives a very basic explanation of the persons of the trinity, because understanding this complex truth means we have to start somewhere, right?

Quick Bible Info

In America, one can easily find new Bibles written in formats suited for different needs. It’s wonderful knowing that though the Bible is old its translations are continually updated to accurately communicate God’s original message. And, that those translations are inspected in order to maintain God’s word as pristine to that same original text.

There are several Bible versions in my home, especially since my daughter and her husband are seminary students working on their doctrines. The Bible I usually reference is the New International Version Life Application Study Bible. It contains more than 23,500 cross references. Those references provide for lots of information.

We Christians are founded on His holy word and we must do all we can to continually reverence it–not pollute it with the nonsense of society.

God’s Creation – Genesis

Let’s face it, creation is a mystery to all of us. No one knows exactly how God formed/established the earth and massive solar system–but He did. He tells us in His word that He did. So as a believer in Christ and all that God is, I take Him at His word. Christians like myself look past the unknown parts of this complicated story and simply place our faith in His truth.

I don’t question how I can smile and talk into a small electronic device, then somehow my image and voice travel through air and appear on your screen. It’s not something most folks can easily explain, but it happens. For God, believers trust the history of His perfection that we read in the Bible. And in this history we find passages of God’s truth shared with His people.

So believers, called to live by faith, follow God’s truth in the Bible, which begins with the wonderful story of Creation in Genesis.

Jesus the Christ is Born!

The word “Christ” comes from christos, a Greek word meaning “anointed.”  It is equal to the word mashiach, or Messiah, in Hebrew. Jesus the Christ means Jesus is “the anointed one of God.” To be the anointed One of God, one would have distinct qualities unto oneself. It is only Jesus who possesses the many distinct qualities identifying our Savior, beginning with His virgin birth.

Jesus’ virgin birth took place two thousand years ago, as foretold over seven hundred years prior  by the the prophet Isaiah. How very distinct–having a virgin as His mother and prophets foretelling His conception!

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

God in the Flesh–Jesus Christ!

One of Jesus’ closest apostles was John. He was the son of Zebedee and his brother, James, also a member of Jesus’ Twelve. And because John believed, having spent time with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, absorbed His teachings, broke bread with Him, and was filled with the Holy Spirit after Jesus’ ascension, John was zealous to proclaim the truth. And what is the truth?

God came to us in the flesh through Jesus Christ.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus—The Source Of All We Need!

Society spends boundless time, energy, and money trying to find “the answer” to living the ever unattainable utopian lifestyle. Social Media, television, and those magazines at the grocery store check-out line all try to suggest what will make our lives complete. Their suggestions usually include:

  • Eating healthy foods
  • Exercise
  • Organizational and time saving tips
  • Books on mental health
  • Balance family and work
  • _________________ (You fill in the blank.)

In truth we need only turn to the One source who created us. Jesus—the source of all we need!

7 Reasons Jesus Came To Die For You!

Did you know that Jesus, God in the flesh, chose to die in your place—so that you may have life eternal?

That surely is a hard concept to wrap one’s brain around, the fact that someone else would die for us. However it is the truth—Jesus sacrificed Himself because He loves us. It is also truth that humans, with an average life span approximated at 72 years world wide, die. But when we die, what happens? Are the lights now “permanently out”? Is it really “game over”?

Through Jesus’ teachings, Christians know our hope remains in Him for a life after death. Jesus knew His appointment to earth was as the final sacrifice for all sin. He fulfilled that appointment as only the King of kings, the most victorious of all, could. And He did it all for you!

Do You Know God Considers You Worthy?

Too often, we believe ourselves to be worthless, useless or incompetent. Why? Because we erroneously listen to someone who harbors evil in their heart claiming that against us!

Don’t listen to them anymore!

I encourage you now—do not believe anything that an evil heart dares to profess about you! You are worthy because you were created by the Creator of the world, made perfect in every way.

It Doesn’t Matter How You Come To JESUS—Just Come!

Are you waiting to cleanse your sinful ways before coming to Jesus? Trust me—it won’t happen!

No one can become free of sin—not until we see Jesus face to face. Not until our presence in this sinful world transcends to His heavenly realm. Not until that nano-second after God calls us home.

1 John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

5 Tips On Sharing Your Faith

5 tips on sharing your faith

When the opportunity arrises to share Jesus with others, which Christians are called to do, many ideas pass through our minds.  Ideas concerning not how great accepting Jesus will make the other person  “feel”, but on how that person’s possible rejection of Jesus will make us “feel”.

I know on  occasion I have factored in the possibility of rejection, and chose not to talk about my Lord and Savior.  Bad decision! When that happens, we both miss out! Continue reading
