Everything comes with instructions. If the goal is to achieve a satisfying outcome we follow instructions. Basic assembly instructions for a newly purchased gas grill or ceiling fan are found in booklet form in the box or are available online. To assure product success we read and follow instructions.
Americans know instructions are readily available online on how to play golf, drive a car, make lasagna, launder a dress, recover from a cold. Even basics on how to apply suntan lotion correctly and how to properly brush teeth are found in the cloud. Everything comes with instructions to follow in order to achieve a satisfying outcome.
So, Christian America, why aren’t we applying that same principle by following God’s instruction (also available in an online Bible) to heal our nation?
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
God’s clear, concise direction to us even includes the blessing of what happens when we follow the instruction. This verse from 2 Chronicles is God’s perfect instruction to Israel, yet, it can be applied to all nations who worship God.
Christian America we must engage in the importance of God’s word. In the Bible we find description of His character, love, faithfulness, and we find instruction. All are flawless.
As Christians, because we are inherently flawed, God calls us to follow His perfect instruction to receive forgiveness and healing for ourselves and – for our God founded land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 gives us four exact instructions on how to achieve this:
Humility – Prayer – Read The Bible – Turn From Wickedness
HUMILITY
We are told throughout the Bible to be humble before the LORD.
James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
God values those who humbly follow His way above self.
PRAYER
There are approximately 365 Bible verses about prayer in the Bible depending on which translation you read. God is very specific on the importance of continual prayer.
Philippians 4:5-7 “Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Be assured if at anytime one is unable to speak their supplication from the heart, then Holy Spirit (on our behalf) is our mediator to the Lord.
READ THE BIBLE
To develop closeness with God read His word. Each page of the Bible offers something to learn about His person, His history, and His power. Knowing God helps us be in close relationship with Him. It’s like communicating with and knowing your best friend.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
God’s word is the path of instruction for Christian Americans individually and for our country.
TURN FROM WICKEDNESS
Through the prophet Ezekiel God spoke to Israel about the necessity to turn from wickedness. This instruction stands true for America. God truly desires us to refrain from wickedness and remain in relationship with Him. In doing so, we will be blessed.
Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’
Ezekiel 33:14-15 And if I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ but they then turn away from their sin and do what is just and right—if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil—that person will surely live; they will not die. None of the sins that person has committed will be remembered against them. They have done what is just and right; they will surely live.
Again, God even tells us His promise of what will happen if we follow His instructions. Not only will we as a nation not die, but our sin will be remembered by Him no more.
Christian America, continue to deepen your relationship with God…be humble, pray, read the Bible, and turn from wickedness. Don’t give up hope for our government, families, schools and businesses. May we believe His word, follow His instruction, and trust His faithful blessings to heal our nation.
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
If you’re not certain you’ve ever invited Jesus into your heart, now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com. Through Jesus you will receive the hope that He alone offers.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”

Us true Christians have always been in the minority.
There are many that are marshmellow Christians. When the heat comes on they melt and run.

I keep praying for a national revival. I believe good things are happening within the Christian community. Supreme Court decision on life and Coach Kennedy’s right to pray…both good news!
