Was your family unity stretched just a bit last year? Perhaps patience was tested as tempers flared? You may not even know why arguments started – they just did.
If you want help calming your family, help bringing joy to their hearts and unite in love – try claiming Jesus!
A loving family is built on truth from God, truth that is found in the arms of Jesus. And that truth needs passed on from generation to generation.
God’s desire is that there be a conscious, consistent transfer of God’s truth from the older to the younger in the family.
– Charles Swindoll, Growing Wise In Family Life 1988
From the beginning the very first people on earth formed a family because God designed us to be together and love one another in family. When we live in family it’s vital we learn tolerance and forgiveness, both truths demonstrated by Christ.
Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
By following Christ’s example we become children of God, able to claim His power to overcome, to claim His strength in our struggles, His joy in any dark situation. Christ’s truth is love. It becomes our family shield, wide enough to help us withstand any situation, created as an inheritance for future generations.
Psalm 103:17-18 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’S love is with those who fear him, and his rightesounesss with their children’s children – with those who keep his covenants and remember to keep his precepts.
Make sure to claim Jesus for your family this year, not just once but everyday. Then sit back and watch His truth, His love, transform tempers into smiles and arguments into agreements.
Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
