The Bible tells us confession to God is the way to forgiveness and forgiveness means our sins are gone. Yep, the Bible tells us God not only forgives, He also forgets.
Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
This assurance of God’s forgiveness and the additional blessing that He also forgets our sin means we walk away with a clean slate. It’s as if we never sinned. What an undeserving gift from a loving Father to individual Christians and to America as a whole. But the important idea to remember is the blessing comes when we are truthful and confess–
1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
America, asking God to forgive our sin is the only sure way to again receive His abundance of mercy and grace. If we continue to place ourselves higher than His sovereign authority we will actually sink lower into sin–
Proverbs 28:13-14 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
God is patiently waiting for us to confess. He is forbearing as He stands close like a lovely parent, one who desires their child to obey and learn.
Psalm 103:11-14 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
Once we confess then abide in His ways God is merciful. He does not stay angry. Our sin is forgotten. From the beginning of our sovereign nation God has always shown mercy and grace to our country: protecting our freedoms.
Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
Christian patriots, our faith in the Lord Almighty is the truth to help us prevail. We know faithfully asking for His forgiveness personally brings change in our own lives. This knowledge also allows us to then stay firm in His word that that same faith will bring change to our country. By bringing the sins of America to the foot of the cross we will also bring rewarding change for the good to our nation.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
American Christians, please continue to include confession of sin for America in your daily prayers. We need God’s good blessings in order to progress as “One nation under God.”
If you’re not certain you’ve ever invited Jesus into your heart, now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com. Through Jesus you will receive the hope that He alone offers.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
