With prayer and patience, America will be great again.
Last week’s post, God, America Is Calling You By Name, shared how Jeremiah, David, Moses and Jonah were all saved when they called on the name of the Lord. Each story exemplifies to Americans we too, can call on the name of the LORD to help us; to redeem our spiraling country.
You may say, “Is it possible for God to work magic on America in the blink of an eye?” The answer is anytime He wants to, God creates miracles.
When the prophet Elijah prayed to God to ignite the drenched altar offering in front of 950 evil prophets of Baal and Ashtray to show that God was God – God immediately sent fire that burned up the altar, the sacrifice, and every drop of water.
Like Elijah trusted God, America needs to trust and call out God’s name. We need to place the direction of our country upon Him. Through prayer He will show us the road America needs to follow.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We are to worry less and pray more as we patiently wait. The Word often tells of God’s immediate response to prayer, yet it also instructs us on patience.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Patience allows for us to gain wisdom and show God we trust His power. America, God will destroy the evil that invades us. As “One nation under God,” we have to understand patience.
Psalm 37:7-9 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
It was Moses who affirmed God’s might and demanded the Israelites be patient. When Pharaoh and his army were pursuing the Israelites after they fled Egypt, Pharaoh trapped them against the Red Sea. Their cornered situation created despair and they completely doubted God. But Moses offered them encouragement.
Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
The Lord did save the Israelites. He allowed them to escape by parting the Red Sea for them to walk through. Then allowed the waters to come crashing down upon the Egyptian army.
God continued to love Israel and warned them through the prophet Isaiah to be patient – He would save them. Just like the Jewish nation, American history also reveals our nation has erroneously taken its time turning to and from God. Both spend generations in sin, then eventually turn to God for help with enemies. And the Lord will save our nations, again.
Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Learning and displaying patience is contrary to today’s culture. We are used to anything we want being immediately overnighted to our doorstops. However, the Bible instructs us to continually place our trust in God and be in communications with Him. For in His time goodness will shine upon us.
Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
There is ALWAYS hope in the Lord. Just as Israel was a nation who called on God to save them, and God did save them – American can know that God is also here for us!
Pray daily for our nation and:
- Believe in God’s power.
- Thank God for His mercy.
- Thank God for His Word.
- Plea for God’s forgiveness.
- Ask for better Presidential leadership.
- Ask for our nation to heal.
- Thank God for all He will do for us.
- Thank God for what He has done for us – Jesus dying on the Cross.
Then be patient in the knowledge that God will redeem America.
