God is 3 in 1

Discussions about God sometimes evolve from random conversations with friends. When this happens in the circles I socialize with I really enjoy it because sports and politics usually override group conversations.  Many times when these biblical topics arise, the discussions include questions regarding  truths that I totally believe and have some knowledge of.

I always try to communicate to others what I know about these truths, but on many occasions I realize my lack of knowledge on the subject.  The Bible contains sixty-six separate books with God’s word spoken from the beginning of time. That’s a lot of information! Continue reading →

Do you know Jesus loves you?

You’ve probably heard the song,  Jesus Loves Me, as a child growing up. Most likely you sang it in Sunday School. There is a beautiful rendition of Whitney Houston singing it on GodTube.

Both of those versions inspire Christians young and old to feel love. But to really understand the depth of Jesus’ love, one has to dig deeper.  We must experience the words of the Bible.    Continue reading →

Pray in schools or prayer in schools

60 years ago in 1958, Steven Engel from New York brought parents together and made the decision to sue the state over a state authorized prayer in public schools. That case made it to the United States Supreme Court in 1962, where they decided it violated the First Amendment because prayer represented establishment of religion. Engel won.

Then Pennsylvania, in 1963, decided on the case of Abington School District v. Schempp; a complaint made by Schemp to stop Bible readings in public schools. Schempp won.

Also in 1963 came the verdict of Madalyn Murray O’Hair against the Baltimore School System to ban school prayer labeling it “unconstitutional”. O’Hair won.

As a Christian, I believe government made the wrong decisions in all three of these cases, which directly affect core foundations for our children. Continue reading →

How to know you have eternal life

The last seven weeks have been devoted to sharing the person of Jesus. The posts explain who He is, why He came down to us, and what He did for us through His death on the cross.

Most critically,  the posts point to the need to believe that three days after Jesus’ death on Calgary hill,  He rose from the dead, then forty days later ascended into heaven!  

When we believe Jesus is the The Son of the Most High God, that He came to share and live God’s word, and that His death then resurrection occurred, life as we know it changes. Continue reading →

Believe in the miracles of Jesus.

In the Old Testament, the job of prophets was to pass on God’s message to the people. The prophets did not speak their word; God’s word was spoken through them.  They revealed who God was, and what He planned to do. Some did preform miracles.

Does God Care If You Believe Him?

God loves you!

Yes!

Absolute biblical recordings reveal God punished those who did not believe or obey what He said. And He rewarded or blessed those who believed His word, following His commands.  

The Old Testament shares with us the prophets, those who spoke to the nation of Israel, disclosing His message to them. The prophets did not use their own words,  only the words spoken to them from God. Thankfully, though the physical body of Jesus is gone His spiritual presence lives forever! The miracle of Jesus raised to life from death is central in Christianity. There is no one else who walked this earth that man slaughtered, then came back to life! Continue reading →

Jesus took my sin to the cross.

While Jesus, the Son of God, was traveling about Jerusalem teaching the Jewish people about love,  a rebel named Barabbas lead a group of political insurgents in a rebellion against Rome.

bar-abbas means “son of Abba [Father]”

Jesus shed His holy blood seven different ways for us at the cross.

Jesus shed His holy blood seven different ways for us at the cross.

The significance of this sacrifice for mankind is in the meaning behind each blood shedding. It was through Jesus’ perfect blood that seven freedoms were returned to us, redeeming and setting us free from bondage.

Leviticus 16:19 He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and to consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.
