Jesus said, “Follow Me.”

“Jesus has prepared the way and has made following our destiny possible, whereas we are helpless by ourselves. We can find and fulfill our purpose by responding to the clear, simple call of Jesus Christ: “Follow Me.” He is the doorway to fulfilling our destiny, where our divine design and God-ordained purpose live in perfect harmony.”

Charles Swindoll, Insight For Living Ministries

Over two thousand years ago, as Jesus started up His ministry, He assembled a group of twelve men–His disciples. Jesus did not coerce these men into leaving their livelihoods, their families, to come and follow Him. His plan was to show them a better way of life; to change their destiny. To explain to them what God is truly about, so that they, in turn, would share God with others.

Jesus would become their destiny when He said to them, “Follow Me.”

MATTHEW 4:18-20 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." At once they left their nets and followed him.

Peter and Andrew, like the other ten disciples who Jesus called for His inner circle, did not question His authority. They knew. They just knew following Jesus was going to be the best thing they could possibly do.

Jesus still extends that call. Though it was over two thousand years ago when He called to the disciples, Jesus still speaks to each of us today.

“Follow Me.”

Whatever it is that you do in life, do it for Jesus, “Follow Me.”

Follow His ways as you interact with people, be humble. As you raise your children, show them respect. As you discuss with your spouse, appreciate his concern.

By following Jesus you can lead someone else to Jesus. You can help change their destiny. Remember, once you lead the way, others will follow. They always do.
