5 Selected Bible Verses – How To Follow Jesus

The life of Jesus, in His three years of ministry on earth, was absolutely pure. He actions and reactions, to those blessed to be in His presence, were the perfect example of how one leads a God centered life.

Thankfully, for those of us not of that time in Israel, Jesus’ words for salvation and life were transferred onto parchment.

In the book of Matthew a young man asked Jesus how to get to heaven. Jesus responded with Moses’ Ten Commandments, which the man accepted, but then Jesus’ final portion of His answer made this young man sad.

Are You Redeemable?

Never doubt your worthiness to God–no matter the mess you feel you’ve created. God created you and He loves you. The Gospel affirms God sacrificed Himself to mankind in order that we may believe in this love and follow Him. Some may call faith in God a fairy tale but believers, we know in our hearts that those verbal assaults are spread by people with hardened hearts. They are spreading lies.

Fairy tales only offer momentary gratification–then life continues to hurt. God, in His infinite wisdom, offers everyone an earthly lifetime of hope, joy, and love, no matter the circumstance. By turning your life over to Christ, He will help you through any mess. Christ will get you through the hurt. Understand, Christ is here to help and desires you to hand your mess over to Him. In one quick moment you can receive His love.

Allow your heart to understand that nothing rings truer than this:

Jesus Christ died for all of us!

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Jesus Offers Thanks–BEFORE Blessing Appears!

Offering Thanks Works.

Gathered together in a grassy area on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, not far from the town of Bethsaida in Israel, Jesus fed 5,000 men. The wondrous deed was preformed spontaneously, accomplished on-the-spot after Jesus looked into the heavens and gave thanks. Though Jesus’ close group of Twelve were at His side, they had no idea of the miracle that was about to happen.

The large crowd of 5,000 (total doesn’t reflect women and children in attendance) was traveling on foot from nearby towns as they followed Jesus, eager to listen as He shared God’s message.

Jesus, whose name means Savior, considered the encompassing crowd as sheep without a shepherd. Because of this, the Savior had compassion on them while lovingly healing their sick and speaking about the kingdom of God.

You Can Walk On Water—Just Like Jesus!

I can’t begin to image what it was like to be a disciple of Jesus in the flesh over two thousand years ago. To actually see Him preform unprecedented miracles, hear Him speak wondrous truth, or feel the touch of His tender hands as He humbly washed my feet—all while knowing those same hands raised three people from the dead. It must have been a mind blowing experience for The Twelve.

The divine story of Jesus waking on water is told three times in the Bible. That specific act went against all physical laws which the disciples naturally understood. Jesus was definitely breaking new territory right in front of them. And the good news for us is—Jesus gives His power to all believers so that we can walk on water, too!
