“When we see the bow it is supposed to remind us of the covenant that God made with the human race. Praise the LORD! Every time we see the bow we are to think about God. Think about His mercy, think about His grace, think about His love, think about the fact that it is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed – because His compassion faileth not.”
– Bishop Patrick L. Wooden, Sr., Upper Room Church Of God In Christ (2017)
God’s mercy, His grace, love and compassion never fails – meaning it goes on and on. Endless. God is never absent, He continually creates and lives within.
The rainbow, sent as a reminder from God, not only symbolizes God’s promise to never flood earth again, it also symbolizes His unending power to create that flood. But, because God is love, He gifted earth the rainbow to mankind, His covenant to never flood earth again.
For this we should always be thankful.
Thankfulness from mankind to God for His unending mercy and grace symbolized to us through the rainbow, should be unending. Honoring Him one day a week from a church pew is not enough. Remembering to pray throughout the week is not enough. Random acts of kindness to neighbors, and sporadic charitable donations throughout the year are also not enough.
Christian thankfulness is a commitment in life’s journey; daily prayer, dedicated biblical decision making, continually living for Christ. Thankfulness should be exhaled in our every breath, because it is our next breath that keeps us alive. Thank you, Lord.
God’s covenant – His promise to us – the meaning behind His rainbow, never fails. His rainbow reminds us, “that it is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed – because His compassion faileth not.”
May mankind never fail to honor God.
Genesis 9:16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”
Blessings to you as you receive redemption through Jesus.

Debra, thank you so much for your devotion to God. I have long been a friend (& sister) of yours. This became a special devotional today as I had just checked the weather and saw several days of rain ahead and I’ve always loved rain! God is so good!
