The rainbow, that beautiful arch of colors formed when sunlight hits rain droplets which then reflect back to our eyes, is of God.

The elements that create the rainbow, the sun and water, are of God. And the reason the rainbow was created – the promise never to flood the earth again – is of God.

God’s covenant to mankind.

Genesis 9:12-15   And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 

A symbolic gesture of His love, the rainbow forever represents God’s holy love for man. It does not represent man’s unholy love for man.

The apostle John, in his writings of Revelation, tells us in the second part of Revelation 4:3 what Jesus revealed to him in a vision of heaven:  “A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne.”

John, again, speaks of God’s rainbow in Revelation 10:1 revealing a mighty angel “with a rainbow above his head”.

The rainbow, now present on earth, has forever held a place at the throne of God. It has forever been in His presence, its radiance forever glistening around God. Mankind has no rights to the exploitation of the rainbow.

The rainbow belongs to God.
