Did You Lie Today?

The society we live in sets us up to excuse white lies. All you have to do is read the billboards on the highway and watch the commercials on the television; easily half of them include white lies. Sure, there is probably a grain of truth in them, but sometimes it’s a pretty small grain!”

Dan Seaborn, 26 Words That Will Improve The Way You Do Family, (2002)

As children we learn from parents it is not right to lie. Often, a more severe punishment was given if we lied instead of just speaking truth about our wrongdoing.

God’s instruction not to lie is in His list of the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21.

Truth is important to God. His word is truth; God never lies to us. We can always trust whatever God says will happen in His time.

Christians, as we grow anew in Christ, are to shed ourselves of society’s ways and live in God’s image. Hard as it may be while being bombarded with “white lies” everyday from friends on social media, we are called to stay true to His word not their words.

Colossians 3:9-10 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Lies are lies. In your heart you know when truth is stretched.

Christians, stay true to God, stop excusing those “white lies.”

Make the decision, today, to proclaim God’s truth as the only truth.

ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”

Blessings to you as you receive redemption through Jesus.
