“Revival normally begins among God’s people, but before long, like water surging through a broken levee, revival overflows and spills into or society.”
– Pat Robertson, Six Steps In Spiritual Revival (2002)
America believes in God. We trust His word. We acknowledge His authority. If there is any doubt then refer to the on-field accident of football player Damar Hamlin.
Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills defensive back, went into cardiac arrest during a nationally publicized game on January 2. The game paused for over an hour as medics worked on him. It was a matter of life or death.
Through the years many have fought against kneeling and prayer on the field (You Can Get Fired For Praying), but, in that moment in January players ignored legalities. Players were in tears. Players were on their knees. Players huddled in prayer.
Announcers of the game were offering thoughts and prayers. Everyone knew this particular situation was not the average injury.
Then, ESPN anchor Dan Orlovsky agreed thoughts and prayers were indeed needed and they were needed right now…so Orlovsky prayed to on live national TV. Orlovsky prayed:
“We believe that you are God, and coming to You and praying you You has impact.“
It was a beautiful prayer, a beautiful sight, and I believe there was no one who would have dared stop him.
When there is tragedy (911), a crisis (Ukraine), suffering (Covid), or near death right before our eyes (Hamlin), Who does America always immediately turn to?
Thoughts and prayers…thoughts and prayers…thoughts and prayers – God!
America is ready for revival in Jesus. To our core we know who truly “has impact” on a bad situation. Anxiety, distress, and helplessness puts us in our place – on our knees. Let’s not wait for another tragic event before we dirty our knees, before we acknowledge we are weak and He is strong.
Ask God now for revival in His name. Pray we again become a nation that pleases Him and in turn receives His blessing.
Psalm 85:4-7 Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.
As a nation may we come together in prayer, Christians. Pray For America, April 30, 2023. Mark your calendar.
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”
Blessings to you as you receive redemption through Jesus.

I believe the Damar Hamlin incident brought out an awareness to many people that we need God, that God is the only One who can deliver from any situation. So many folks on TV, social media, had no issues with boldly asking for prayers. Not all America may understand it, but we are craving revival.
