Do you feel life is a burden and not a pleasure? Are family, friends, work, and even your government not giviing you the delight or peace of mind and protection that you believe they should offer? I’ve felt that way before. I’ve felt let down and that personal and social circumstances are out of control.
The good news is, we don’t have to feel that way. God did not create us to be in distress. He creates through His love; giving ability to us to receive His love.
When you love something, you don’t turn your back on it. You nurture it. You remain close, never abandoning your creation. You draw near and care for it.
God tells us throughout the Bible, not just five times, that He cares for us.
1.
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Often, we make the mistake of believing God does not care for us. We wonder, “Where are You, God? Why don’t I feel Your presence?” Perhaps that “feeling” evolved within us because we’ve allowed ourselves to believe we know what’s best for ourselves instead of listening to God and allowing Him to be in control. God does care for us. He chose to create us which means He also loves us. But if we are prideful and choose to ignore His ways instead of laying ourselves at His feet–then we are the problem. We are not allowing Him in to care for us.
2.
Isaiah 41:8-10 “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah, the first major prophet in the Bible, spoke the words of God long ago. At that time he was referencing God’s nation, Israel. But America, we are also a nation born of God. Our forefathers founded this great country on God’s word. From the Mayflower Compact to the Declaration of Independence, from the first session of congress reading chapters of the Bible to our national motto being “One Nation Under God,” America is founded on God’s principles.
God cares for His children Israel, and He cares for His children in America.
3.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
The LORD our God goes before us making a path. Our Father cares for us so very much. He’s even told us He will “never” leave us. God is one prayer away, one cry-out away, He is and will always be right there with us in any storm, Matthew 8:24-27. America, we simply have to place our trust in Him for our delight, peace of mind and protection.
4.
James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
As a nation we must call out to God. Yes, we have drifted away from His teachings, but one can never be so far from God that His presence can not surround us when we ask for forgiveness. God is there; God is always there for us. He is the Father who cares for His children.
5.
1 John 4:9-10 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Friends, family, work and government show they care in any variety of ways: helpfulness, hugs, bonuses and tax breaks. But there’s only One, the One and only, who laid down His life so we might spend eternity in His loving presence. The One and only who willing suffered for our sin so that we would not be forever separated from the Creator of life in eternal suffering, the One who cares for us through His death than any person can care for us in Life. That One and only is Jesus Christ.
I pray you know Jesus. If you don’t know Him, pray the following prayer over your life and additionally over America, so that our country may also be saved from consequences of sin.
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
If you’re not certain you’ve ever invited Jesus into your heart, now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com. Through Jesus you will receive the hope that He alone offers.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
