Christians Should Boldly Pray For Other Christians!

There is no shortage of news headlines endlessly announcing attacks made against anything Christian. The hate is very outspoken — there seems to be no filter applied.

No matter if you are Vice President of the United States (Mike Pence) or his wife who teaches at a Christian school (Karen Pence); are Christian young people attending a pro-life rally (Covington Catholic H.S.) or a simple baker trying to run your personal business according to God’s Word (Jack Phillips) — verbal and written abuse against Christians continues.

So. . .what does God say we are to do in all circumstances?

PRAY!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Pray continually in all circumstances.

In hateful circumstances we often pray for God to change the hearts of the attackers from evil to good. Praying for their heart change is a very important action on the part of Christians. But, let’s also not neglect to pray for the hearts of those enduring the hardships. They too need help. They need our prayers, standing as one voice, for God to strengthen them.

Abused Christians need to feel their Christian community standing beside them, worshiping God, praising His plan, asking for their hearts to stay true to God so that they do not falter as a result of hurtful assaults against them.

Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

No matter if one’s faith was born years ago—like the Pence’s, or one is younger in their faith walk—like the Covington students, evil avoids no one. Evil always seeks a vulnerable spot to attack. BE AWARE—Evil is never far from us! But also remember that God never forsakes us!

Jesus, our beloved savior, is always beside us!

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philippians 4:12-13 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

It is because of God’s intense love for us that He desires us to pray for ourselves and our brothers and sisters in Christ. I ask you right now, please, boldly pray for Christians to:

  • continue standing up for Jesus
  • receive guidance from Holy Spirit
  • overcome evil directed at their hearts
  • find healing in their situation
  • forgive their assailants
