Jesus descended from heaven with a plan. He came to share God’s love, die on the cross, resurrect, then return to heaven. But that plan is not completed. His merciful work is not over as He continues to shower us with love as our intercessor.
Hebrews 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Yes! After Jesus’ resurrection Jesus did return to God, His father, to sit at God’s right hand. So now that Jesus personally made Himself know to us, when we believe in Him, our relationship with Him expands. Our believing that Jesus died as the sacrifice for our sin, now means that at judgement Jesus stands before God, interceding for us.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
Jesus will tell God that we know Him, and that He knows us. That all our sin has been forgiven.
What a blessing that Jesus lowered Himself, sharing His message of love with us here on earth. His perfect coming was all previously planned. And that plan, when we believe, revealed to us His glory. Through Jesus’ glory we can overcome temptation satan constantly throws at us.
2 Corinthians 2:11 . . .in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
Satan is indeed in the world, pointing out our weaknesses, reminding us of sin and tempting us to sin yet again. In truth, until satan (the accuser) is destroyed forever, he is the one who comes and points out our sin before God .
Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
However – Praise God – everyone one who believes. . .
- Jesus as the Son of God,
- who willingly came down to earth to die sacrificially for our sin on a cross,
- and three days later arose from the dead,
. . .will have Jesus, the mediator, intercede to God on their behalf for every sin the accuser points out.
Romans 8:34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Believers know Jesus as a comforter and a healer. He is also our strength and teacher always providing for us in life. What a blessing to know that in death, Jesus is also our mediator, moderator and intercessor. Because we believe in Jesus, He knows us!
All believers have hope in the blessing of Christ’s atonement for our sin on the cross. This is a promise made to us by God and written in His word.
1 John 2:1-2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Dear reader, do you believe that Jesus thought of you on the cross?
He knew the only way for you to spend eternity in perfect love, was if a perfect sacrifice was made on your behalf. That is why Jesus chose to die for you. He loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. He is smiling upon you right now.
All He asks in return is that you believe this Good News that He offers. If you are not yet a believer in Jesus I encourage you, dear reader, right now, to ask Him into your heart. Invite Him in, repent of your sin and BELIEVE in what Jesus is. Do this and you are assured He will intercede for you in heaven.
Join me next week as I share three steps that bring you closer to Jesus.
