Christ Made The Choice To Die

Christ chose to die so we will liveAnd we live to bring glory to God… And God’s glory is shone through His grace… And by His grace He saves us from our sin… And for our sin—Christ chose to die so we will live…

– Debra Pedrow, Lift Him Up Don’t Pull Him Down

This is a poem I wrote for my book: Lift Him Up don’t Pull Him Down – The eternal importance of never momentarily taking our Lord’s name in vain The  basis of the book explains the eternal importance of keeping God’s name holy.

The poem is a circular thought, written to explain the circular love God created for us through Jesus. This love is irrevocable, a certainty which God planned in order to save souls from damnation. This certainty is found in His Word. The decision to ignore this certainty (not believe His Word) is to refuse the gift of eternal life.

Jesus chose to come to earth, suffer death on a cross, then rose from death on the third day. Jesus suffered for us, but He beat death. He arose and is alive, sitting in heaven at the right hand of the Father, waiting for our journey home.

In His endless love, Jesus chose to die for us.

Christ chose do die so we will live

JOHN 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

And we live to bring glory to God

JOHN 15:8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

And God’s glory is shone through His grace

2 CORINTHIANS 4:15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

And by His grace He saves us from our sin

ROMANS 5:21 …so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

And for our sin… Christ chose to die so we will live

PHILIPPIANS 2:5-8 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

The chapter this poem comes from is titled “What’s In A Name?”  In biblical times baby boys were often named for their character or their surroundings. The name Jesus means “Savior.” God gave this name to His Son because through Jesus’ chosen death on the Cross He saves people from their sin.

Jesus made the choice to die for all sin. But it is up to us, individually, to believe His death indeed redeems souls, in order that we be saved from damnation.

ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”
