America Unite – Honor God

“In times of crisis, this country has always gone boldly before the throne of God seeking His divine mercy and grace. Each time God has responded to our prayers with grace, mercy, and love. Today we face significant decisions, if not borderline crises. Will we, as a Christian nation, stand strong together with the one purpose of honoring God in all that we say and do? We can only be one nation under God if He is our guiding light. May nothing keep us from walking in step with the One who is the Authority of history, the God who guides, judges, and blesses.”

If My People – A prayer Guide For Our Nation, (2020)

Citizens of America have history of uniting together in prayer and honor to God. Often, during troublesome times, Presidents have been the advocate for national prayer.

During a national crisis, President Zachary Taylor asked for prayer during a cholera epidemic: “The providence of God has manifested itself in the visitation of a fearful pestilence which is spreading itself throughout the land, it is fitting that a people whose reliance has ever been in His protection should humble themselves before His throne…acknowledging past transgressions, ask a continuance of the Divine mercy. It is earnestly recommended that the first Friday in August be observed throughout the United States as a Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer.”

President Woodrow Wilson asked for prayer during World War I: “‘It being the duty peculiarly incumbent in a time of war humbly and devoutly to acknowledge our dependence on Almighty God and to implore His aid and protection…I, Woodrow Wilson…proclaim…a Day of Public Humiliation, Prayer and Fasting, and do exhort my fellow-citizens…to pray Almighty God that He may forgive our sins.”

President George W. Bush declared prayer and remembrance for the 9-11 attack on American soil:  “by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Friday, September 14, 2001, as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001. I ask that the people of the United States and places of worship mark this National Day of Prayer and Remembrance with noontime memorial services, the ringing of bells at that hour, and evening candlelight remembrance vigils. I encourage employers to permit their workers time off during the lunch hour to attend the noontime services to pray for our land. I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in these solemn observances.

As far back as 1746, Massachusetts Governor William Shirley declared a Day of Prayer and Fasting against the French who were planning to attack New England.

God brought America through all these crises, and more.

May America’s Christians remember our history of uniting ourselves to honor God, and thus receive His blessings.

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”

Blessings to you as you receive redemption through Jesus.

  1. Debra please be understanding. President Wilson’s speech was great and I agree as far as I know. For me, I hesitate to praise Bush’s speech as I believe that he was part of the group that was responsible for the 9/11 attack. I have seen his interview with Billy Graham or might have been with his son Franklin or it might have been just one of them talking about it, and him saying he wanted to do what Jesus says. So, maybe this speech was after that and he was in essence repenting for what he had done. Don’t remember time frame, sorry. If only I could talk with him myself, I could determine, maybe, where his heart lies. He is a politician and the job description is to say whatever you think the people you are talking to want to hear. Thanks for letting me leave a comment. Jesus’ blessing on you and Shalom.
