Glorify God With Your Body

“We glorify God by living lives that honor Him.”

Billy Graham (1918-2018)

The Bible speaks often of living a life honoring God. This includes the holy union of marriage, man joined together with woman. Marriage, between male and female, an act of uniting two bodies as one.

Two bodies, blessed by God.

Mark 10:6- "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female. 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

The act of, “and the two will become one flesh,” includes communal unity and intimate physical unity. Communal unity being two lives, previously separate, now come together as one; their families are joined, they create children, household decisions evolve, emotions, problems, and joys, now become – as God commands – “but one flesh.”

Intimate physical unity, two beings becoming one, is sex.

God gave the command to honor the marriage bed. The biblical physical intimacy of sex means the male and female body of those united belong to each other. They should not stray to another.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

We glorify God by following His commands.

By following God’s command for a male/female marriage, then “the two will become one flesh.” Two bodies united, consecrated by God, bringing glory to His name.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Remember whose you are. Let us live within the context of biblical marriage. Glorify God with our bodies.
