We all want life! A life of goodness, love, joy, and peace. But some folks are suffering through life – not receiving all they expect life to be. I read a poster recently that said: “Life has taught me to never expect anything from anyone.”
That’s a sad statement. Sounds like whoever said that is desolate. They have no one to help them through life’s journey. They feel lonesome.
Do you feel lonesome?
Do you lack goodness, love, joy, and peace?
Jesus can change all that!
Jesus left His throne in heaven to come down to us and share who He is and what life, eternal life, really is:
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus, light of the world, our savior, offers us light over darkness, in other words He offers light (life) here on earth but also light (life) after death. Eternal life over eternal death. For believers of Jesus, life, not death, is our eternal.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Satan the thief comes to take life from us though he doesn’t do it against our will. It is always our choice to submit to him. We don’t have to give in to temptation of lust, stealing, or hatred. Those sins, like many others, are all choices we make to act upon.
Thankfully, we have Jesus our savior who came to offer life during those hard decision making times. Those times when we are about to make the decision to sin or not to sin. When we choose not to follow satan’s ways we are actually choosing eternal life in Jesus.
John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
Yes, Jesus is the only one who offers life, but it’s important to understand it’s not our actions to choose good over evil that truly give life. We receive eternal life because we believe Jesus is the son of God who was crucified for sin, died, then rose again to live. When we read the Bible or hear God’s word spoken and believe all that is said about Jesus we are assured of eternal life.
Once we believe in who Jesus is and what He did for us we should never feel lonesome again. That’s because Jesus, for eternity, will always be with us.
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
That doesn’t mean we will never sin again. Sin will always happen as long as our bodies reside on earth. But Jesus sends us His helper, Holy Spirit, to continually live in the heart of our mortal bodies, offering guidance so we may have life filled with goodness, love, joy, and peace.
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
If you’re uncertain you’ve ever invited Jesus into your heart – now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com. Only through Jesus Christ can you receive the redemptive hope that He alone offers.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
