AMERICA–Believe In The Power Of Prayer

Ancient Israel did not have the personal relationship with God that Christians experience today in America. It’s only through the acceptance of The Cross, all that Jesus suffered pertaining to His death and resurrection, and the empowerment of Holy Spirit, that Americans and all peoples can experience a personal relationship with our Father.

That’s good news for Americans to remember right now, since many citizens during this current political climate are having trouble seeing the presence of God.

If that’s you, if you’re a believer in Christ yet currently doubt God still resides in our nation’s capitol, perhaps it’s time to step-up your prayer routine.

Prayer is our connection to God.

Developing a personal relationship with God, just like developing human relationships, depends on getting to know Him. God already knows us, of course, because He created us. And why did God create man? I would say it’s because God is fullness of love. That fullness overflowed into creation, with us being made in His image.

To develop and then sustain our end of this “love” relationship with God, one needs to take time to be in His presence. Speak to Him. Not only present our wants and desires for God to be in Washington, D.C. but also to worship and thank Him for all that He’s already done.

What a privilege is is to worship God for creating our great nation. To thank Him for placing good Christian leaders throughout our nation, for seating honest judges, and for fostering fair laws.

Christians should pray each day.

There doesn’t have to be an alter in your home to pray. Prayer can be done anywhere; while driving your car, waiting to pay groceries, as you relax on the porch, before you get into bed or before you get out of bed. Actually, God’s preference is for us to pray during all of these times. He loves us that much and wants to hear from us all day long. God enjoys us.

Prayer has no topic limits. We can come before God with family drama, work related problems, health scares, sexual issues, even governmental failings.

Though God already knows the trials America is navigating and any prosperity we may be enjoying–He still wants to hear from us. He desires that we share all aspects of our lives with Him in prayer because He wants us to depend on Him. God wants us to realize–to trust–that He is forever and always available and never forsakes those who call upon HIm.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God. It keeps us close to Him. Truth is the more one prays the closer one becomes to God. The relationship deepens.

John 16:23-24 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

America, perhaps we are experiencing governmental failings because we’ve neglected to pray for our government. Perhaps we’ve become so caught up in our own “failings” we’ve only been praying for ourselves. Or perhaps we’ve drifted from good prayer practice altogether? Remember the story in the Bible of the church praying for Peter to get out of prison? Their prayers worked!

Prayer is powerful–prayer overcomes, prayers sets free and revives. Prayer is our conduit to Jesus for redemption.

Billy Graham said. “We can change the course of events if we go to our knees in believing prayer.”

America, I encourage you to enrich your relationship with God. Develop a solid pray pattern and invite God into all aspects of life which includes our government. Pray against the evil plaguing Washington, D.C.. Pray for freedom from unjust elected officials and from steadfast laws that are being trampled upon. Just remember, we can be in the presence of God in an instant simply by humbling ourselves before Him anytime, anywhere, in prayer.

Dear Lord, I praise Your holy name. Thank you for allowing America to prosper. Thank you for the freedoms we enjoy including our right to worship You. I'm sorry we turn our backs to You so often. Our sins are many: changing Your natural order, following our own corrupt ideas, neglecting Your holy commandments, just to name a few. Please, forgive us. Hear our prays as we ask for Your mercy and grace to shine upon us. Please, allow us to elect leaders who love and respect You, so that America may once again be governed by people who respect and follow Your word. Amen.

ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

If you’re not certain you’ve ever invited Jesus into your heart, now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com. Through Jesus you will receive the hope that He alone offers.

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
