GOD is NOT a woman!

For some reason, a reference to a newly released song recently showed up on my FB. I do not download music or visit music sites so I was surprised to view a music post on the feed. Who knows how FB decides content, right?

Anyway, it’s not the fact that it showed up that drew my curiosity to check out the video. It was the title of the song that stabbed me.

God Is A Woman. . .that was the title of the song. In light of today’s society I’m not shocked these brazen words are considered as truth. What pierced my heart is the fact that the words were purposefully assembled into lyrics of a song to entice people all over world (those who choose) to sing, dance and celebrate its title.

I do celebrate my womanhood. I loved knowing and feeling my baby girl growing inside  me. The female body is perfectly made to nurture a human being, though I didn’t always treat my body as such and have confessed and asked forgiveness from God my eternal Father.

The Bible tells us God is a spiritual being.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24

God has no physical characteristics. However, He chose to reveal Himself to us in a human form we can understand – a male. Scripture contains approximately 170 references to God as “Father.”

Jesus also refers to God using masculine pronouns: I and the Father are one.” John 10:30

For believers, it is only through Jesus Christ that God is our Father.

I suppose, there in lies the difference between me and the writers of God Is A Woman: Ariana Grande, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, Rickard Göransson, and ILYA.

One can only assume the writers believe in a god different from mine, because my God, Yahweh, is Jesus’ eternal Father. And believers of my Father, Yahweh, receive His love, thus making us “children of God”.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:12-14

To spew God as a women is an infernal idea going against all truth.

This truth has been shared with mankind in the Bible for over 2500 years.  We know from the gospels that Mary is the mother of Jesus, pregnant through the Holy Spirit, One of Three in the trinity of God.

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1:18

Jesus had to be born of a woman, as opposed to coming from the ground like Adam, because He had to share the same flesh and blood as mankind so that He could be tempted and know the pain we all suffer.

For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:17-18

Jesus Himself suffered, making atonement for the sin of all people.

As a believer, Jesus’ atonement covers all my sin from yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  The good news for Ariana Grande, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, Rickard Göransson, and ILYA,  and all who celebrate the title of this song, is they too can accept Jesus’ suffering for their own sin and know they are welcome in His eternal kingdom.

Just as I have been forgiven the sins of my body because I confess and ask forgiveness from God my eternal Father; everyone is invited to confess and ask forgiveness of sin. It’s never too late, no matter how long ago the sin occurred or how often the sin takes place. In fact, while Jesus was on the hill at Calgary being crucified with two other men, the man on His right proclaimed:

We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:41-43

Just hours before his death, a sinner was forgiven by His Savior.

Friend, don’t wait till your final breath to confess your sin and ask forgiveness from our Father. Do it now, so that you too may have peace eternal.

Ask the Father right now by praying this sinner’s prayer, copied from gotquestions.org right now:

“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”

  1. It is a shame that the impact of the secular feminist movement affects our faith in such a negative way. Preaching lies that are clearly opposed to the doctrine found in Scripture should never be accepted in among the people of God.

  2. I really hate how the right wing conservatives think that their opinion is the right opinion and they just HAVE to write a whole article about it. As it says in the article God is a spirit, spirits don’t take a gender Jesus took on the gender of male but that does not have anything to do with God. I like to think that God is non-binary as like God doesn’t identify as either male or female all the time because God has maternal instincts and fatherly instincts. So I think that you need to think befor you speak because this article really made me mad.

    • I am sad this article made you mad. It also offers hope that we can be forgiven through our savior, Jesus, for sin. Yes, God is a spirit. But He revealed to mankind in the Bible using masculine pronouns. Ancient Hebrew had no gender neutral pronouns, so in referencing/ describing Himself to us, God purposefully used masculine pronouns. In the New Testament alone, there are approximately 900 verses with the Greek word theos—a masculine noun. And there are hundreds of references using Father, King, and Husband. The Gospels state Jesus calling God “Father” over 100x. “God has no physical characteristics.”, as I stated in the post, but because He used masculine words to identify Himself, one should not assume one knows better by trying to rewrite His proclaimed masculine pronouns used in the Bible, by penning a song titled “God Is A Woman.”

    • The very first set of lyrics are
“You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you, my one
When all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
And I, I feel it after midnight
A feelin’ that you can’t fight, my one
      It lingers when we’re done
      You’ll believe God is a woman “
She don’t say GOD IS A WOMAN that’s just the name

      • I must disagree.
The lyrics are written in a seductive style, with the writers giving empowerment to being a women. Nothing insulting with that angle.
The offensiveness occurs each time Arianna tells the person she is communicating to in the song: You’ll believe God is a woman.

Here are the lyrics specifically to the last 35 seconds of Arianna’s song:

        Yeah, yeah
(God is a woman, yeah, yeah)
        God is a woman
When all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
        You’ll believe God
        (God is a woman)
        Oh, yeah
        (God is a woman, yeah)
        (One)
        It lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman
        END OF SONG.

        God IS power.

So by making reference that God is a woman to her lover, Arianna is saying all the seductive things she does to her lover are powerful, so powerful that the lover should consider Arianna to be god-like.

Sorry, but not my kind of music.
