Lift Him Up! That’s what I had on my mind, while recently viewing two planetarium programs on the theoretical (calculated through theory rather than experience or practice) creation of our universe. I have no objection viewing scientific ideas of Creation, explained by hypothesis (proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation).
The atmosphere of sitting in the planetarium is always tranquil, the galaxy photos are always breathtaking and the narrator’s voice is always soothing and calming. In this case the narrators were Jodie Foster and Tom Hanks.
However, my faith in true Creation of the universe stands firm; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Creation of the universe is found in the first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1.
Although I have viewed many scientific programs on this subject and did required reading in high school, my in-depth scientific knowledge of the Big-Bang theory is limited to a dust particle. There is no disputing existence of: dark matter, black holes, other galaxies, quasars, magnetic fields, hydrogen, and molecules – all properties residing in space.
On the web there are as many sites devoted to creation as there are stars in the sky. However, science uses words like “they’ve tried to determine,” “astronomers speculate, “it is thought that,” “strong evidence suggests,” “collision would have,” and ” theorists came up with”. Scientific truth is – they cannot with absolute undeniable authority, state exactly that five billion years ago, the universe was born.
Christians, on the other hand, do not need the Hubble Telescope, Sir Isaac Newton, carbon dating, or the voices of Oscar winning actors to reinforce our beliefs. Each of these contributions is unique, enlightening us to an unimaginably expansive universe, and I respect each contribution. However, Christians remain steadfast in the belief of the Word of God, and His declaration of Creation.
God’s Absolute Authority, tells us exactly what God created:
- Genesis 1:21 – God created the great creatures of the sea, every living and moving thing with which the water teems, and every winged bird.
- Genesis 1:27 – God created man in his own image.
- Ephesians 3:9 – God created all things.
- Mark 13:19 – God created the world.
- 1 Timothy 4:3-4 – God created everything to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
Read the Bible – God’s Holy Word, to learn more of the power of God. Find history of His fulfilled promises “I will make you [Abraham] into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Genesis 12:2
Know His true love for us “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. And experience His miracles, as you read how He provided manna to the Israelites after they left Egypt. Exodus 16:14-35
We lift God up, each time we acknowledge any element of the power of who He is, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11
Creation came from the power of God.
