5 Ways To Lift Him Up

Praise God, Lift Him Up

Worshipping God should never be looked on as a task we need to get done. We should look forward to communing with Him; like spending time with your very best friend! There are many ways to interact with Him daily. Here are five key ideas that work for me.

1. Pray

Prayer is a way to communicate to God. Yes, He already knows everything in our hearts. But, a good prayer plan keeps us constantly in touch with our Maker, and Him within us. Just like friendships develop by connecting with each other, we get to know and feel God’s presence with us as we develop our intimate relationship of sharing and depending on Him through prayer.

The next time you pray, ask God to work within you. Invite His will to be done, then…be quiet…be still. Acknowledge any response He may offer you.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1John 5:14-15

2. Find Joy

Joy is not the same as happiness. Happiness is rooted in circumstances. It comes and goes as circumstances change. Joy is rooted in our hearts. It comes from knowing what Jesus did for us and understanding His presence is always with us. So joy should remain constant.

I have told you this so that my joy [Jesus] may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:11

3. Be Thankful

Let us be thankful in all things. Though evil sometimes wins a battle, the Bible tells us God’s kingdom will always stand. He is the Almighty that has control, and it is not for us to understand our situations. Through faith in His Word that His love for us is eternal, we should always be thankful.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, Hebrews 12:28

4. Read The Bible

I blogged about this before. Finding the right Bible version that incites a better understanding of God’s Word is key to enjoying Bible time. Steady scripture reading lifts God up; by acknowledging His Truth on the printed pages. And what God has written is our food for eternal life.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ “ Matthew 4:4

5. Ask God To Control Your Day

If you want to lift God up, give Him control of your day! Cast your worries, hopes and fears on Him. Let Him know you relinquish all power to Him. Whatever happens in those 24 hours, you are right with it because:

  • you prayed for Him to work in you
  • you know the joy of Jesus is continually with you
  • you are thankful God has control of your life
  • you read the Bible and it gives you strength
  • you asked God to control your day.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

And to Him be the glory for each hour of our day. Amen
