“The only proper response to false teaching is to shun it.” – John MacArthur, Fool’s Gold?
Over two thousand years ago our savior Jesus Christ the Son of God walked this earth with purpose. That purpose included demonstrating and speaking the word of God for mankind to see and hear.
Jesus is the son of God, our redeemer; He is the way, the truth and the light…the only path to heaven. Any diversion from the teachings of Jesus is false doctrine and should be ignored.
Jesus lived in ancient Jerusalem traveling about the region for three years with twelve followers known as His disciples. The disciples lived life with Jesus sharing food, walking from town to town in ministry, no doubt sitting around campfires and sleeping under the stars together.
The disciples understood and knew Jesus for who He is. They witnessed first hand His miracles: healing the sick, bringing the dead back to life, feeding over five thousand with just five loaves of bread and two small fish. They absorbed everything aspect of Jesus’ teaching and were instructed by Jesus to go and do as He did.
Who Jesus is…the Son of God… and what Jesus did…miracles, teachings, healings…during His time on earth is recorded by eyewitnesses such as Matthew the tax collector turned disciple of Jesus, and by John a fisherman who willingly followed Jesus and became one of His twelve.
The miracles and teaching and healings were also recorded by others such as doctor Luke and the apostle Paul. They interviewed some of those who were around Jesus and/or folks who were eyewitnesses themselves.
blueletterbible.org gives evidence of when the story of Jesus – the Gospels of Matthew, Mark Luke , and John – were written:
The evidence shows that the four Gospels were written in a relatively short time after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Examining the internal evidence of the New Testament itself can make this plain. The evidence is as follows:
The City of Jerusalem and the Temple Were Still Standing When the Gospels Were Written
The first three Gospels, and possibly also the fourth, were apparently written while the city of Jerusalem was still standing. Each of the first three Gospels contains predictions by Jesus concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21), but none records the fulfillment. We know that Titus the Roman destroyed the city and Temple in A.D. 70. Hence, the composition of the first three Gospels most likely occurred sometime before this event, otherwise their destruction would have been recorded. The fact that all four gospels are written from the perspective that the city of Jerusalem and the temple had not been destroyed gives evidence of an early date.
We can trust the teachings of Jesus. He died for all sin on the cross at Calvary, then rose to life in fulfillment of His teachings. Jesus’ word is pure, full of love, and agreeable to sustain life. His word offers hope, peace of mind, it never changes, and eternal life is yours the moment you believe and put your trust in Him.
PSALM 86:11-13 Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.
