“The shape of true love isn’t a diamond. It’s a cross.”
– Alicia Bruxvoort
It would be wonderful if all moments in life were like precious diamonds. Extravagant, beautiful, flawless. But they’re not. We can count on life on earth to contain cheap, faulty, everyday moments that are discouraging. And the feeling of disappointment is one of them.
I recently entered a contest which did not end in the way I had hoped. For months, I put my heart and soul into a project I believed God called me to write. My hopes were high. Many, many prayers were sent. Prayers of thankfulness.
Why then did I loose, when I thought for certain that God lead me down this path? It’s very disappointing.
At a time such as this it’s not unusual to wonder, Does God love me? Does He really care about the details in my life? Why would I feel His hope, only to have that hope snatched away?
As I’ve had time to reflect on my loss, I’ve come to realize, again, that God has shown His love for me from the beginning.
ROMANS 5:6-8 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
What’s important for me to remember is God’s love for me isn’t demonstrated by allowing me to achieve. The truth is God’s love was demonstrated, for me and for you, when He sent His son to die for us on the cross.
Jesus, God’s one and only son died for us, sinners, by means of crucifixion. The torturous Roman cross. Jesus died so that mankind can be redeemed for our sin. There is no love more beautiful than this. There is nothing that outshines it. There was no other way for true redemption.
Only through the sacrifice of Beautiful Perfection, God’s son Jesus, could man be saved and offered eternity in heaven with God.
What could possibly be a more precious, extravagant and flawless, example of love? Certainly not a mere diamond. A diamond can be torched in a house fire and smashed by a hammer. Its beauty has limits, boundaries. A diamond is not timeless.
But God’s love is timeless.
God’s love is eternal. It goes on and on. God’s love lasts forever.
My hope wasn’t snatched away. I simply forgot who gives me hope…peace…joy. Knowing Jesus is knowing love.
May I encourage you, today, if you don’t yet know Jesus, ask Him into your heart. Receive what He did on the cross for you and accept His precious gift of love.
ARE YOU A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?
Have you invited Jesus into your heart? Now is the perfect time. Pray this sinner’s prayer found at Gotquestions.com.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen.”
