Jesus Our Savior

“By His life, death, and resurrection, our Savior has conquered our enemies, and by His spirit He has granted us to share in the victory.”

R. C. SPROUL

Jesus, the name of the living, visible God. He walked this earth two thousand years ago knowing history before history occurred. He knew He would come to earth; He knew why He would come to earth.

Jesus, in His glory free of sin, chose to leave His heavenly throne and descend to earth. He did this in order to fulfill God’s plan for Him to be crucified on the cross.

Knowing mankind cannot save ourselves, the Son of God gave no resistance to His arresting officers. Jesus endured being spit upon and cruel beatings to His face. He did this with purpose and obedience, He would be the sacrifice, the only way that darkness of sin could be forgiven. The only way sin could be overcome.

The Son of God endured a brutal flogging to His back, a crown of thorns upon His head, and hateful mockery for all past, present and future sin. The suffering that was brought upon Him by the Romans was meant to kill His earthly body, but it was meant, by God, to provide a path to peace.

Jesus’ path on earth lead to His own execution. He was forced to carry on His scathed, bleeding back, His means of execution–the Cross. Exhaustingly He trudged up toward Golgotha with His cross. It was there He would be crucified. Nails were driven into His hands and feet. He would die a slow, torturous death.

Jesus, King of the universe, suffered this torture because He loves us. He loves me. He loves you. But after the suffering, Jesus knew, would come His resurrection. And just as God planned, three days after Jesus’ burial, Jesus rose from the grave–Savior of the world.

1 JOHN 4:14-16 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

The name Jesus means “Savior” in Hebrew. Jesus’ death, then resurrection, saves people from sin.

If you desire to know Jesus and acknowledge Him as Savior, I encourage you to invite Him into your life. He loves you and is awaiting your invitation. If you are unsure of what to say…pray the prayer below.
