God in the Flesh–Jesus Christ!

One of Jesus’ closest apostles was John. He was the son of Zebedee and his brother, James, also a member of Jesus’ Twelve. And because John believed, having spent time with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, absorbed His teachings, broke bread with Him, and was filled with the Holy Spirit after Jesus’ ascension, John was zealous to proclaim the truth. And what is the truth?

God came to us in the flesh through Jesus Christ.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John, eager to acknowledge and truth he received by grace, made it his life mission to save souls and share The Word with others.

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

History reveals the Apostle John wrote 1 John somewhere between A.D. 85 and 90. John, being an eyewitness to the life, death and resurrection of Christ, John wrote with authority all that he saw and heard. He specifies the truth through the Gospel of John, the three Epistles of John, and the Book of Revelation. Today, we focus on 1 John:

1 John 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

Christians become members of God’s family the nanosecond (one nanosecond is to one second as one second is to 31.71 years) we turn our hearts to God. It is in that moment that we are instantly united as family–and will remain His family–forever wrapped in the loving arms of the Father who loves His children.

The Father who sent The Son as atonement for sin, God in the flesh–Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Everyone born of God also overcomes the world.  This means death has no hold on Christ followers.  Yes, our bodies will physically die and decompose, however, our spirit self will spend eternity united in the presence of God and Jesus in heaven.  This is the victory that has overcome the world, given to us through faith and God’s mercy and grace.

Christians understand this victory comes from God in the flesh–Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:7-8 For there are three that testify:the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

The Father gave us the Spirit of truth to live with us forever, allowing us to accept the testimony of God. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.  We may accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is far greater.

It is the testimony of God our Creator who has blessed us with forgiveness of sin through His resurrected Son, God in the flesh–Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the One who came by water and blood. At the beginning of Jesus’ three year ministry here on earth, He was baptized with water.  His baptism was a sign of truth, as a voice from heaven declared “This is my Son, whom I love;”.  At the end of His three year ministry, Jesus was sacrificed by His blood.  Jesus’ blood is what saves us from eternal death.

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Son of God accepts the testimony that they now receive eternal life. Sadly, whoever does not believe in God’s Son has made God out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given us directly about his Son.

Those that do not believe reject their gift of eternal life given through God in the flesh-Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Christians overcome the death of this world by believing that Jesus is incarnate. A man fully God whose purpose of coming to earth was to save us from our sin.

Christians know and understand God’s Word as truth that Jesus is the Son of God.

And the nanosecond we believe in Him, our eternity is sealed. We do not have to wait or work or worry any longer because God  changes our eternal destiny that moment we become believers in His Son.

Are you a believer in Jesus Christ as your savior? It not, I urge you to pray right now, asking God to come into your heart.  The nanosecond you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, your eternal future will lovingly be changed forever. Blessings!
