14 Bible Verses to Pray Over Your Home

Have you ever prayed over your home? I’m sure you’ve prayed for family members, for circumstances, and for blessing in your home, but today, let’s pray God’s dominion over your home.

Praying over your home is done by walking through each room of your home while claiming God’s word throughout! How powerful it is to purify a home of doubt, stress, chaos, lack of trust, and wickedness. Today is the day to tell evil it has no business in your business and you are kicking him out of a house that belongs to God! Forbid evil to return by using God’s word as your evection notice!

It’s time to claim Jesus over your home.

Start by standing outside in front of your front door and read the following scripture out loud. These words were spoken by God’s servant Joshua to the tribes of Israel before the Israelites were about to enter and successfully overtake their promised land:

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Wonderful! You have boldly proclaimed your house serves the LORD! Now step just inside your home and read the next verse:

Luke 10:5-6 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.

You are claiming the peace of God for your family, and because you are a believer, His peace will rest on your house. Continue to walk though the rooms of you home reading the next ten verses.

—Remember to save the final two verses to read last, again standing right here just inside your front door.

Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Say, “The LORD built my house!”

Isaiah 28:16 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.

Say, “Thank you, Lord, the cornerstone for my home is indeed—Jesus!”

Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Say, “Thank you, Lord, my family finds rest through You in our home.”

Proverbs 3:33 The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.

Say, “Thank you, Lord, for blessing my home and may we always follow Your ways!”

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

Say, “Thank you, Lord, for your strength and protection over my home.”

Psalm 115:1 Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.

Give God the glory for things He has done in your home for your family.

Isaiah 32:18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.

Say, “Thank you, Lord, for peace, security and calmness in my home.”

1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Say, “Thank you, Lord, for all the riches You provide for my family, not by our hands but by Your mercy and grace we acknowledge this.”

Then make sure to explain to your family that God alone is the Great Provider.

Mark 5:19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

Remember to share with your family great things God has done in your life, and how they too can trust in Jesus.

2 Samuel 7:29 Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”

Say, “Thank you, Lord, for what your word tells us. My family stands firm in faith for all You have done and all you will continue to do as we remain Your steadfast servants.”

Now, again just inside your front door, read what Matthew states happens to the wise men who build their house on Jesus the rock.

Matthew 7:25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Don’t think that because Jesus is with us that evil will not attack. On the contrary, the rain will come hard to destroy your home, the streams will rise high to drown your family, and the winds will try to beat you down. Jesus never promised us an easy life.

What He promises is when those storms do fall upon us—we will remain standing because our faith is firmly planted in Jesus and He alone will get us through!

Say, “Thank you, Jesus, You alone are our protection, our comfort, our support against the storm of evil forces.

After king Solomon consecrated the new temple to the LORD, the LORD spoke to Solomon:

2 Chronicles 7:15-16 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

With a humble heart, thank the LORD for His favor upon your family and your home. Thank Him for all the future prayers He will hear from you. Thank Him that His presence will always remain in your home.
