Recently I posted, Christians, Claim Your Identity!, noting how Hollywood, again, poked fun at Christians during the Emmy Awards: “She says she doesn’t like watching white award shows because you guys don’t thank Jesus enough. That’s true. The only white people that thank Jesus are Republicans and ex-crackheads.”—Michael Che, referencing his mother.
Of course the flood gate of God-haters in Hollywood will never be totally closed until the return of Christ. So for now, Christians must continue swimming through Hollywood’s muddy waters. And sadly, just as murky mainstream Hollywood has no conscience for attacking Christians as a group, a certain God-mocking editorial cartoonist also has no problem publicly directing a penned attack at one little believing girl.
Judge Brett Kavanaugh, during sworn testimony at his Senate hearing for Supreme Court nominee, fought through tears while stating his daughter said “We should pray for the woman.”—meaning his little girl wanted to pray for Christine Blasey Ford, the sexual assault accuser of Judge Kavanaugh.
This little girl, all of ten-years-old, is obviously raised in a home where prayer matters.
This little girl is learning Christians turn to our Creator in prayer:
- for all things
- under all circumstances
- and for all people.
The innocence of this little girl was openly revealed for all the world when her father shared her desire to offer help in the midst of living through an obviously trying family situation. The little girl offered to help in the best way she knows how—through prayer.
ENTER EVIL. . .
Chris Britt, editorial cartoonist, is a regular contributor to Illinois Times.
Britt’s ties there must be concrete, because Illinois Times is officially identified in the lower right corner of his piece, however, Illinois Times is denying any claims to the post.

Clarification regarding the Judge Kavanaugh cartoon by Chris Britt:
While Chris Britt is a regular contributor to Illinois Times, he is not an employee and also engages in work for other publications across the country. The recent cartoon involving Kavanaugh’s daughter was posted on Chris’ own Facebook page; it did not appear in our publication or on our website The Illinois Times name should not have appeared on the cartoon in question and we have asked Chris Britt to remove it.
If Chris Britt did offer this piece to the Illinois Times, I am very thankful they made the correct decision not to print this vile graphic.
So where does the Illinois Times now stand on this sensitive issue?
Knowing their contributor would stoop so low as to drag a ten-year-old-girl through the mud for what Britt obviously expected as approving ridicule from other God-haters— where do they stand? Do they support him?
What is the Illinois Times intentions of keeping such a man with no conscience for decency to young children on their payroll? Forget about the fact he’s attacking Christians, because the public already knows Christians are always fair game! What about Britt using this innocent little girl for his gain?
“That’s what we do in this business,” says Britt.
Two weeks ago on a post I asked, “Why aren’t more Christians fed-up/annoyed/irritated with Hollywood?” . The same type of question can be asked now—
—Why aren’t more Christians tired of those in the media who are aggressive, below the belt hitters, out to directly insult those who turn to Jesus?
Psalm 52:2-4 You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!
This is the defense of EVIL:
“Kavanaugh is the one who ushered his own daughter into the national conversation by telling us his story” about her prayer, Britt said, defending the cartoon. He added: “The cartoon is not about his daughter — it’s about Brett Kavanaugh’s possible heavy drinking, his anger and his possibly sexually assaulting Doctor Ford.”
“That’s what we do in this business,” Britt said. “I based my cartoon on [Ford’s] testimony — I happen to believe what she said. Her testimony was credible and thoughtful, and that’s why I went where I did.”
There are so many other avenues Britt could have taken to showcase his desired points. He could have drawn any number of negative images “about Brett Kavanaugh’s possible heavy drinking, his anger and his possibly sexually assaulting Doctor Ford.” without taking advantage of her comment.
But no, Chris Britt chose to depict the innocence of a little girl saying her prayers, asking for God’s help—and spew it into a hateful piece of work to exaggerate his personal political beliefs.
This little girl does not deserve the attention of Britt’s hate!
Darkness hovered over that drawing table.
What was going through Chris Britt’s mind as he drew her small hands praying to God, and as he drew her knees kneeling on the floor in humility?
Seriously? What was going through his mind as he sarcastically drew that small, humble figure bent over in prayer?
Was Britt finding pleasure in the pain he knew this illustration would cause to the family and to Christian Americans?
Let us all continue to pray.
Since this Senate hearing has been going on, I have prayed through out each day, asking for full disclosure of truth to be revealed, so that justice may be served.
May God show His divine presence and may His goodness overcome the plots of evil, so that justice for all will provide. I do not know just how all this will all play out, but I have faith in God’s process and timing.
Christians, we know there is light in Jesus.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
As the example set before us by a ten-year-old girl, please ask God for His mercy and grace over this whole situation:
- pray for the woman
- pray for this little girl in the “cartoon”
- pray for the Kavanaugh family
- pray for truth to be revealed
- pray for justice to prevail
- pray for healing in our nation
- pray for Chris Britt

Lift Him Up 
Sadly, mocking has become accepted rhetoric in today’s polarized political climate. We saw it again yesterday from the president.
All of this is contrary to the teachings of Christ. He commanded us to love others as he has loved us. Commanded. Those who are Christian must not only claim their Christianity, but live it. This behavior is unacceptable on either side of the political divide.

I’m wondering about political contests of the past, going way back—Madison, Monroe, Adams, Jackson—if/how they negatively brought religion into the mix. Articles printed in local papers to sway votes, false stories purposefully circulated, which we have no record of. I’m sure it’s been a progression.

Very true.
As Christians, our authority comes from God. Our hope is in the salvation of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We live here on earth but this is not our home nor our desired destination. We put too much heed in our earthly things, our earthly “leaders,” our earthly ways. Politics is not our path to Christianity. We need to live what we believe.

Excellent post! I think Christians are tired of Hollywood and the Media that mocks Christians but to think we can stop people from hating God and mocking Christ is unrealistic. We CAN speak out against outrageous things. We must realize that we are living in a secular post modern world and that the United States is not the country it once was. Believers in many of the countries of this world are living in adversarial circumstances in their cultures and we are also. We need to face it and be lights shining in a dark world.
