Give your heart to God. He loves YOU!

Give your heart to God. He loves you!

Are you  following God’s word, being set apart with divine favor and protection?

I hope you do chose God’s blessings because:

 God loves YOU!

God desires you to come to Him during any situation, especially before you make life changing decisions. King David of Israel loved and trusted God, yet he still forgot the need to continually seek Him.

David, not unlike many of us,  chose to follow God, yet still sinned.  Yes, though David sinned his heart still belonged to God and God still loved David,  His chosen king of Israel. But being human, David chose sin which brought about suffering and hardships to both himself and his family:

  • David committed adultery with Bathsheba
  • Bathsheba became pregnant
  • David intentionally had Bathsheba’s husband murdered
  • David’s newborn son with Bathsheba died
  • David’s son Amnon raped his half-sister Tamar
  • David’s son Absalom then tried to usurp the throne
  • Another of David’s sons tried to take the throne

David’s sinful choice brought calamity to his family.

David knew his suffering and hardship would continue throughout his lifetime because of his adulterous sin with Bathsheba, when Nathan, a prophet and David’s friend, shared this message from God:

2 Samuel 12:9-11 Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’

“This is what the LORD says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.

But David never stopped loving the LORD.

However,  what was so very endearing about David was through all of this, he never stopped loving the LORD:

2 Samuel 12:20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.

When David sinned, he admitted it to God. David said he was sorry and didn’t blame anyone but himself. David understood the only way to forgiveness, was through the LORD.

David’s humility is what kept him communing with God.

Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

God desires your heart, in all circumstances, just like David offered his heart to God, always.

David also knew devotion to God was far more important than rituals. In David’s day, rituals included animal sacrifices for sin. But those rituals for forgiveness were worth nothing unless ones heart was in the right place. And David’s heart was for God.

Psalm 40:6-8 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened — burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”
