i am less and He Is MORE

i am less and He Is More

God isn’t more simply because He is bigger than me.

I am less and He is more. What a simple statement to share. However, if you want to understand the meaning behind this statement, it gets complex. Not complex like a mathematical equation that requires an Einstein to understand it. No, it’s complex because the statement encompasses a vast array of explanations. But let me simplify it.

God isn’t more simply because He is bigger than me. That would be an erroneous explanation to the simple statement. God is more because of all that His entirety includes. His entirety is truly incalculable. But there are words, and here are five, which continually add to His bold vastness:

  1. Involved
  2. Intricate
  3. Perplexing
  4. Elaborate
  5. Constant

God is involved in every aspect of our lives. Matthew 10:30 states: And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Wow! I am not this involved in anyone’s life, including my husband’s and daughter’s lives. I can hardly keep my own schedule under control, let alone know every move they each make on a daily basis. Yet our God watches over each and every one of His children; lovingly staying involved as much as we allow.

God is intricate. Jeremiah 29:11 reads: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Were you ever disappointed because something you wanted did not happen? Only to find something even more wonderful came along? God is constantly in the process of subtracting bad and adding good to our lives. All for our betterment. Factors that help us to learn and grow in His way.

God is perplexing because He created out of nothing. It is by faith, not material proof, we are to believe the first chapter of Genesis which starts by stating: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now I like to consider myself a bit of an artist, however, in order to create, I need “stuff.” Paint, tile, rulers, wood, photographs, perhaps just a piece of paper and a pencil. We can not create anything without the use of something that was already created. Even scientific cloning requires the use of some part of the article that is to be cloned. Only through God’s perplexing manner (as humans understand it), did He take the abyss (which He also created!) and create within it.

God is elaborate. The word elaborate means: planned or executed with care and exactness; detailed. This can be found true in the over 300 prophesies of Jesus Christ. Working within God’s exactness,  many prophets of the Old Testament foretold Jesus’ ancestry, birth, life and death. They also proclaimed why it was necessary for Jesus to come. God created an elaborate plan for our lives through His son Jesus Christ; to be full of joy and hope. Just as any loving earthly father carefully executes with detail, a plan of providing for his earthly family.

God is constant. God’s bold vastness continually expands, because He is constant. God always:Loves forgives heals accepts

I on the other hand, am not constant. I live in my own selfish world. I do not love everyone. Certainly not the old guy ahead of me in the “Returns” line who brought back over 40 pieces of hardware that needed counting. And I lack forgiveness for anyone who molests a child. I apply band-aids, but through my will I can not heal a wound. Also, acceptance from me is often fought – why do they have to keep changing phone designs?

But not God. He perpetually loves us and loves us. He forgives our sin each time we ask; at the same time healing our open wounds caused by the sin. And each second of every day God accepts us… knowing our flaws… knowing our weaknesses… knowing our sinful nature – as His children.

So with this shortened array of explanations, I acknowledge I am less and He is more.
